Yowzer, Dean! AK in black stilleto's is a nice touch too :)
Glad you posted the pic of GR's threads to bring me back down to earth. He had to have a puffy red nose in his pocket.

Larry sparks is one cool looking cat in that shot. I see Doyle Lawson's bean in the celebrity back-of-head sweepstakes I think.

Sorry Emiel, I'm not sure what she's using there. I sent off an email to a couple people
who might know - if I hear back I'll post the info.

Silvio,

That was a very special night. Chris gave me a heads up that Cleese was in town and that his band was playing a special show in his honour. It was pretty hush hush. I got a chance to shake his hand and thank him for all the years of great comedy. He signed my Python Biography. He was a real gentleman. I have been a Python Fanatic for years, and John was my favourite.

Yep, you da man Dean! I find the first post you made kind of funny, where you state, "Might be a short thread, but I've got enough to post for a couple weeks". That was back on 01-26-2006! I'm glad to have been part of it.

Thanks,

Jason's release is out now, so I can show you some of the photos from the shoot we did a few months ago. He's holding the TB-1 conversion which he used on the CD called "Steppin' Out." These are 600 px wide, so you can use these for album art in iTunes, etc. I don't know if CDDB has the actual cover, which I shot, but did not design.

By the way, I heard Jason is selling that banjo.

If I'm right, Kenny uses Showcase 41 picks, so he would be the 2nd one. Also notice the overlapping band on Cia's skinny little fingers

Jason's CD is available from him at all Grasstowne shows, and according to Jason, the Music Shed has it as well.

I'm listening to it right now, his banjo sounds great, and HE IS selling that '34 TB-1 conversion!

Starting to get songs worked together for it, funds will be the big factor and getting a label. I'm under Rounder Records as a group with Mike. There will be at least one Banjo/Fiddle number...maybe 2 ( Benny Martin/Earl Scruggs). Tom Adams Stuff, Jimmy Martin stuff, Johnson Mt. Boys, Some Ray Price...yes I said it...Ray Price, I'm a huge Fan, I'm going to try some banjo versions of his material. And of Course Crowe! But you will be doing the Pics I hope Dean!

Got to keep this now famous thread going. Got the pleasure of seeing "The Duke of Drive" otherwise know as Terry Baucom last night at Everett's Music Barn in Suwanee Ga. He was hammering it out with the new Terry Baucom Sullivan. He was with the Kenny and Amanda Smith band.............good stuff from them as always. On an interesting note, Terry was telling me that the head tension was just at a G, sure had plenty of pop and volume!

Matt Menefee of Cadillac Sky at Dan's Silver Leaf in Denton, Texas on the 8th of December. This was a great show and I have to say this guy is incredible. The whole band is. The fact that he handed me his Ome to pick before the show didn't hurt.

might be a small piece of paper under the string to raise it just a hair to keep it from buzzing til he gets it set, or adjusted properly?

my hand is out of tune...hold on a second...

silvioferretti - Posted - 12/10/2007:  17:03:46

Michael, I think you're right, it must be a temporary remedy to a buzzing 4th string...

Great pictures of Bauck... Which allow me to better see some similarities and differences between us: we're the same age (Terry's 19 days older 'n me), we both love flatheads, have the same style glasses, I'm addicted to Sullivan stuff too, I've worn the strap on my right shoulder until about a year ago, BUT he's got a lot more hair than I have!... THAT is the real difference... Seriously now, I miss the Everett's Barn, I'd love to play that place again as it's the real deal, the ultimate Bluegrass place in the South.

The Carolina Chocolate Drops, at the Watermelon Festival in Berryville, Virginia, last September
(at a workshop and onstage).

First up Don Flemons:

Dom Flemons and Rhiannon Gibbons:

Rhiannon Gibbons:

Justin Robinson:

Don played both a four-string and a five-string banjo. In the first photo above, he is playing
some slide on his five-string banjo. He rooted around in his gig bag for a minute or so looking
for his slide, but couldn't find it, so he used one of his harmonicas instead. I guess that's
what a few years as a street musician will teach you - to improvise with what you've got.
At one point, the classically trained Rhiannon said that she and Dom had been good for
each other - he had taught her to loosen up a bit, and she had taught him to tighten up some.
