Is this the banjo he used on the "Bound to Ride" CD?
How about some Sonny Osborne?

Jim's Huber doesn't even have any wear on the head in that picture. It's been rode hard since. That looks like a young Darren Vincent behind him.

That picture of Jim was taken in 1998 - before Huber banjos were on the market - it is a Gibson - but whether that's the prewar 3 he recorded with, I don't know.

Notice how Kenny plays with the neck nearly parallel to the floor; contrast that with Kristin, who is holding the neck at about a 45 degree angle. Varying the neck position like that is great for putting your right hand in position to get great tone out of the banjo. But it also makes it a little harder to reach things with the left hand, especially up the neck... at least it does for me. Notice how Kenny is kinda slouched over to that side. I wonder if he ever gets any pain in his shoulder because of that. Timeless52, you out there?

Not to intrude into Dean's territory here, but I just noticed that he posted a great photo
of Jason Davis back near the top of Page 9.
I was looking at those 2006 pages thinking that I had posted some at the time of Joey and Jason
from the MACC, but evidently I didn't.

That's cool Hunter, Greg is a highly under rated picker, he sure can pull great tone from a banjo.

Jimmy Fee, as good a banjo player there has ever been. Born and raised in Harlan, KY, carved the neck of his first banjo from a piece of oak. Shaped it with a piece of glass from a broken Mason jar.
Played at Disney in a bear costume for years. Father-in-law of Wynn Osborne. Knows a banjo neck from bottom to top and all points in between.
Also plays that Jimmy Martin style rhythm guitar like nobody's bid'ness.
