Hey everyone,
It's been a really long time since I have posted on here, so I thought I would fill you all in on some of my new happenings. For starters I made the move to leave Audie & Redline at the end of last year. The timing was right and I needed to move on in my music career. I will be filling in throughout out the year with a few bands including the Kenny & Amanda Smith Band! ( if any BHO members live around Ohio - Pennsylvania, we will be playing at the Pennyroyal Opera House in Fairview Oh on March 28th & Seven Mountains Concert Series in York Pa on March 29th )
Also I have started a new website ( www.russcarson.com ) dedicated to my music & to help grow my photography business. I'm also really starting to grow my 81crowe Youtube channel, focusing mainly on bluegrass / oldtime banjo videos, lessons, tips & advice. In addition I have almost wrapped up my second Cd "Avenue Of The Giants" that will be out early this year. It features the all star talents of Audie Blaylock, Patrick McAvinue, Jesse Brock, Jason Moore, Kenny Smith, Darrell Webb & Eddie Rose. I'm really excited about and I will make a post on here as soon as it's out!
Finally I really wanted to thank everyone that sent dad messages while I was in the hospital with infection. My arm is really healing up nicely and the doctors think I should be completely recovered in a few weeks.
I hope this note finds you all doing well & happy picking!
Russ

I grew up in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and came by my passion for bluegrass and the banjo, in particular, honestly. My father, Glenn, made handcrafted banjos along with playing the fiddle and Clawhammer banjo since the early 1970's. As a result of the never ending string of live music while growing up, I started taking banjo lessons at age 10. I was a previous bluegrass band member with Gold Heart and Audie Blaylock & Redline. During that time period, I was able to work with and learn from industry legends such as Del & Ronnie McCoury, Bobby Osborne, Carl Jackson, Glen Duncan, Lou Reid and many more. I've been based out of Nashville touring with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder for over a decade now. The banjo is my life's passion and I love sharing it with everyone!
