Fried Liver and onions …………

Mother would sometimes make liver and onions. In those days you ate what what was served or you went hungry. The liver was stringy and dry. I would chew it for awhile then slip it into a napkin. When the meal was over I would spirit the mess into the bathroom and flush it. Years later my sister point out the fact that because my liver always disappeared, maybe mother figured I liked it and kept making it. Sigh …..

Jelly Doughnuts



I ate them as a kid but when I hit my 20's I suddenly lost all enthusiasm for that generic white pastry dough from which jelly doughnuts (and and a good portion of other bakery treats) are made.

Dave, I'm totally with you on the iceberg lettuce boycott. Absolutely no nutritional value there. I'm into mixed greens, leafy head lettuce, and Romaine lettuce.

Wishbone Salad Dressing.

Grew up with it as a kid. Had no idea you could make your own salad dressing better, fresher, and customize the herbs as well as limit the salt and eliminate the preservatives.
