Notes: I find that every rendition of this venerable tune is unique, differing in the melody, the number of parts, the tuning of the banjo, and the other instruments used (e.g., one of Glen Campbell’s videos on youtube in which he takes a bagpipe break). Here is yet another rendition, but this one is without bagpipes.

Notes: tuning is D#BbD#AG. A transcription of Sam Shackleton's version of Pretty Saro. Disregard most of the music notation, as this was rushed and I did not have time to properly notate it. There are variations in each verse, as he adds notes to go with the cadence of the lyrics, and there are some more interval strikes that I left out.

Notes: Here is my arrangement of Big Mon in two octaves. The first octave is heavily inspired by Tony Trischka's arrangement in his book "Master Collection of Fiddle Tunes for the Banjo," based on the playing of Bobby Hicks. The second half uses more advanced techniques: closed melodic with some single string, and some big jumps up the neck.
This tune started as more of an exercise and has since evolved into this mess. I tried to stay true to the melody with some variations here and there
