Notes: This tab is based on Sharon Martinson's video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=338vvwkCbc0&list=RD338vvwkCbc0&index=2. The key is C, but she uses sawmill tuning (gDGCD) for the tune, as she mentions in the introduction. Sharon uses quite a few downstrokes where the finger strikes first one string then the next. I have used mostly open-string pull-offs (ASPO) for these situations. She also uses syncopation often with a "ghost" downstroke followed by the thumb striking a string on the second half of the beat. I tried to capture some, but not all, of these. This tab represents what I hear in the tune and how I might choose to play it. The chords in the tab are for any guitar accompaniment. The banjo plays partial chords or no chords, in some situations.

Notes: Hi I couldnt Select the correct tuning but it is in Docks Signature Tuning F# C G A D (relative) but he ussually tunes it down two frets so the actual tuning is E Bb F G C. This is a song about the suffering of Jesus Christ, even though I'm not religous this song still has an impact which anyone can appreaciate. Like in Many of Docks songs he brushes with his index finger on certain parts which gives it his unique sound, it is noted as Br in the tab with an arrow going upward. Thanks to Freddy Badger who introduced me to this song and gave me some tips which helped me transcribe it, (Search him on Youtube).

Cindy - Pete Seeger Intro

Posted by dbrooks, updated: 7/13/2021 - 2 Member Comments
Download: PDF | MP3: [Play] [Download]

Notes: This tab describes the banjo introduction to "Cindy" from a clip from Pete Seeger's "Rainbow Quest" program (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vhTWMOebv8 ). Pete fingerpicks the intro and then plays clawhammer backup behind the singing with Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry. The folk picking pattern is: 1 2-and 3-and 4. Each measures start with a pinch (thumb and finger). Then thumb generally alternates between the 5th string and the 3rd string on the beat like the thumb bass on guitar. The 2nd and 3rd beats are made up of the thumb followed by a finger pick as eighth notes. The 4th beat is usually a single note played by the thumb.

Billy in the Lowground / drop C tuning

Genre: Bluegrass  Style: Bluegrass (Scruggs)   Key: C  Tuning: Drop C (gCGBD)  Difficulty: Intermediate
Posted by corcoran, updated: 7/23/2021
Download: TABLEDIT

Notes: I dislike capoing above the 4th fret. Hence when I wanted to work out a break to Billy in the Lowground, many years ago, I did not want to capo at the 5th fret and play out of the G position. When I heard I Don Stover’s rendition in drop C tuning, I was inspired to use drop C for my break, and I incorporated some strange ideas. Note that the B part played by some people goes to the F chord (4), whereas other people’s versions go to Am (6m). My tab goes to the F chord, but you can change it to Am by substituting an E note for the F note. I also mimic a little bit of Clarence White in the B part.
