It's official--we've scheduled our first two online banjo contests! We've talked about this for years, but now it's time to actually give it a try.
This will evolve as things progress, but for now I'm trying to keep it simple because it's too easy to get bogged down worrying about appointing a panel of judges, etc. So for now, here's how it will work: each month we'll have a different contest. Members will submit their entries (which are just YouTube videos) during that month, then other members will be able to vote/rate entries for 15 days once the month is over.
June's contest is "Bluegrass (Scruggs-Style) Instrumental - Foggy Mountain Breakdown"
Players of any skill level may enter this contest by submitting a video of themselves playing the Earl Scruggs classic "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" in Scruggs style.
July's contest is "Clawhammer Instrumental - Boatman"
Players of any skill level may enter this contest by submitting a video of themselves playing "Boatman" in clawhammer style. See the TOTW thread for details on this traditional tune.
See the details at Calendar>Banjo Contests.
I just posted a question in the forum looking for suggestions for the next two contests following these. Let me know what you think!
