On this first day of 2013, I want to let all my BHO friends know about my plans for the coming year.
For the past few years I've run the Banjo (and other) Hangouts in my spare time, upgrading them as time and money allow. I love running the Hangouts, but there never seems to be enough time in the day to do everything I want to do with them, on top of the other things I want to do (earn a living, be a good husband and father, minister to others, play music, etc.)
I've spent most of my work time (~30-35 hours/week) these past several years running my website development company that I started 15 years ago, BitSculptor. The challenge is that, once I pay my employees and other costs, this business hasn't been very profitable for me for the past several years. Sure, I make money at it: but not enough money to justify the time put in.
Things have been this way for a few years now. But things are going to change dramatically in the next few months!
I'm now in a transition period, moving myself out of the day to day running of BitSculptor so I can concentrate more fully on the Hangouts and other side pursuits (but mostly the Hangouts!) Within 3-6 months I'll be reducing my BitSculptor work time to ~5 hours/week, and will devote a significant portion of my time (20-30 hours/week) to improving the Hangout sites.
The future is bright here at the Banjo Hangout. I've always had lots of ideas for improvements to our community, but haven't had the time to make them happen. That is going to change now--and that's a huge change for me! I'm very excited about what the future holds for myself, my family, and the Hangouts. I hope you'll be along for the ride!
