Sticky Showdown: Sticky Picks vs Gorilla Snot

Monday, March 17, 2014

We recently had 5 reviewers do a head-to-head comparison of two different "pick sticking" products: Sticky Picks and Gorilla Snot. Both of these products attempt to solve the problem that some pickers have, where your fingers get sweaty and your picks slide off.

In reading the findings of all five reviewers, some themes start to emerge. It's clear that Gorilla Snot is stout stuff that is easy to "over-apply", but if you use the right amount (just a bit) it works well. Sticky Picks has an easy applicator built into the bottle, and is easier to wash off if you use too much. Gorilla Snot is more like a gummy paste, while Sticky Picks is more like a thin film.

Read the full reviews here:

  • Larry Bartosh thinks Gorilla Snot would be best for use with a flat pick, but Sticky Picks would be better for finger and thumb picks
  • Frankie Revell didn't think the average player needed either product
  • Timothy Davis liked Gorilla Snot and plans to continue using it for a long time
  • Sherry Chapman preferred Sticky Picks for banjo because it was easy to use, but preferred Gorilla Snot for flat picks.
  • David Norman says "Gorilla Snot hands down for me."

What about you? Do you use these or other products/solutions to keeping your picks on?
