a full hour of practice this morning and i feel about a month behind, which is so workable. i feel like i am ready for a giant step after 10 days of baby steps. my right hand is noticeably faster than yesterday--the "fat part" of my hand must be really on the mend. I feel a deep bruise on the "blade" of my hand below the pinky finger, which is a good indicator of how i landed on the asphalt, i think. my elbow and shoulder are still techincolor wonders, but i am slowly moving about my day and getting things done. took me 42 minutes to get dressed for a busy late afternoon/evening, but i managed. i think the trick here is to push a little bit, and then push a little bit more the next day. i was stiff this morning when i woke up but after a hot shower and some hand massage i was able to pick up where i left off yesterday. the brain is still willing and my hand wants to catch up. i see a light at the end of this tunnel. today is my first optimistic day since i fell down.
nose doc at 3 today, then a couple of errands, then national honor society banquet. laine very well may be named president for next year--even with her topsy turvy year she's earned it. her service projects were all well organized, well attended and earned local media coverage. she is up to date on her tutoring hours and really understands the purpose of this organization in our little community. so i hope it happens for her.
i have time for a little rest now before things get crazy--sleep is still difficult at night for me. i can't roll over. i need to sit up, reposition the gimpy arm and lay back down. then i have to find the right height to prop it up so that there's no pressure on the elbow joint in any direction. makes bedtime an adventure, i'm telling you. but i haven't taken any painkillers since sunday, so that's a very good sign, i think.
