Big gig tomorrow night. My band "Picnic" is doing an outside gig for a hunting lodge.
We've got around 45 songs ready for a 3 hour show. It's less than half bluegrass but it should be a blast. I even went out today and bought lights so we wouldn't be playing in the dark. Wow! I feel like a rock band....lights!

NashCamp is next month! Yay!

Evenin'...
On my way up to the Monroe Mandolin Camp...stopped and had lunch with Mr. Awzbone...along with Ronnie Reno,Larry Stephenson,and J.D. Crowe......heard some neat stories from Sonny and J.D.....
Now...I might be talked into retelling some of these stories at the Camp...I'll really tell a juicy one if the Camp sells out or somebody buys a banjo from Sonny....that way he'll have the money to pay me not to tell it....
I'll even sing a song I wrote about him way back...was always scared he would fire my big self if I sang it then...aint scared of that now....

I hope all of you can make it to the Camp...and enjoy yoselves....it sounds like so much fun...

Raymond Edward Huffmaster...You know too much...favorite was when you were washing the bus and turned the hose on Bobby..He got out of Dodge in a hurry didn't he.
Re (Loafers Glory) drove the bus (known as the refrigerator because it was all white) for us, played on the Opry, TV shows, recorded, and sang on our shows sometimes. Nice man..but he do know too much for comfort...he do. Remember the rule..what you see and what you hear, when you leave, leave it here...it stayeth here! We'll have a good time.

Cortisone shot....I'll be better by NashCamp....I hope!

I'm doing pretty good. Health is as good as could be. I ride bicycle 15 miles every day..rain or otherwise..for strength. This morning I was struck by a car. Ruined my bike, I landed on my right shoulder and that, plus the right leg weakness (left over from the stoke) is the reasons for riding to begin with. I'm glad I retired from the banjo and music business entirely. I would be a mess trying to play.

Larry Stephenson badgered me, harassed, and just generally worried the living daylights out of me trying to get me to sing lead on the chorus of "Me And My Old Banjo" until I finally gave in. Kristin Scott Benson played my Granada on that album, so I reluctantly agreed to do it. It was really hard to do. I guess one must exercise those muscles too. I had a hard time staying on pitch. Very unusual for me.
Ronnie Reno, Larry, and I (My Wednesday lunch crew..along with Robin Smith) sang that chorus. Sounded OK. She played it well..really well...but then she plays everything well.

Aaron McDarris (Rhonda Vincent) is playing my RB3 (182-3) for a while. It's bad for a good banjo to sit unplayed. I think they forget how to sound good. Kraco goes someplace else if you leave him alone too long. Kraco? WHAT/WHO is Kraco you ask?
Ask Kristin..she knows.

I realize this was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but (minus the roll cage) it actually sounds like a pretty good idea to me! I would certainly be willing to pitch in on getting The Chief a new bike, especially since it seems to be an important part of his routine to stay fit and healthy.

I was really lucky...I appreciate the offer for a new bike but it's being repaired as best as could be expected. I was lucky...the guy was turning right and looking left...I came from the right..he had a red light and I just didn't expect him to move. Scared the hell out of him I think..I got as mad as I've ever been.
Embarrassing too..three Police cars, an ambulance, and two damn fire trucks. This guy could have killed me with one hand..but if I could have gotten to him he would have had to try. Police stayed between us all the time, until he left. Funny now that I think of it.

I'm so looking forward to camp this year...and seeing all of you again. Thank you for coming during these trying times.
We'll make sure you go back home very tired, well fed, and hopefully knowing more about the banjo than whence you arrived.

Sonny,
I had a bike accident 2 years ago when I was training for the 100 mile race.
It was really stupid. The bike I have has those special shoes that lock into the pedal.
When you come to a stop you're suppose to down shift to make it easier to start back up. I was still a newbie and forgot...I did get my shoes unclipped though.

When I started back up to cross the intersection, I was clipped back in but the gear ratio was to high to move the bike at a start up speed. I fell over like that little guy on "Laugh In" with the tricycle. Boy did I feel like an idiot. Cars were waving me on to cross the road, but I wasn't gonna do that twice. I waited for them. I banged up my elbow purty good on that one.....but I never fell like that again!

My elbow is finally feeling good after the cortizone shot. Playing banjo again for the first time since Sunday and it felt great to play. Man, the day I got the shot I was in so much pain that night, I couldn't sleep at all. My back is still bothering me and I have to go to physical therapy on Tuesday to learn some strengthening exercises.

Getting old is not for sissies!

I was at the Starvy Creek Festival last night and I heard Aaron McDarris playing your RB3 on stage. Man it really sounded good, you could really tell he was playing a Top Quality banjo. Aaron is a great picker !!!!!

Really glad to hear you are OK after your accident.

I am scheduled to hookup with Banjoey in a couple days in Branson, I am sure we will give our Chiefs a good workout.
