This tune comes from Ernie Carpenter who was flooded off his family land by the daming of the Elk River. He didn't go easily. His tune is a sad one. I hope I do it justice. I learned it from Betty Vornbrock who learned it from Mr Carpenter. I like the way it leaves you hanging at the end. 2-finger style in open G

This is one of the first tunes I learned on the banjo. aEADE tuning which Charlie Payne of Blairsville Ga. who I learned it from, call Frankie & Johnny tuning. It comes out in the Key of G. 2-finger, index lead.

I got this from Ken Perlman's recent (May '07?) tab in Banjo Newsletter. I took some liberties with Ken's arrangement to adapt it to 2-finger style and to make it my own. Since I've never heard it played, I don't really know how "right" it is. D/D tuning, 2finger style.
