I don't remember where I first heard Julianne Johnson but I've been playing it for a long time. Somewhere along the way I stole some bits from Dan Levenson but they probably sound different done in 2-finger style so maybe he won't know! That's Tish on the guitar. Solid ain't she!? 2-finger style in double D tuning

This is a great Melvin Wine tune which I learned from the Orpheus Supertones. Walt played clawhammer banjo on the cd. The 2-finger arrangement is mine. It's on their first cd which is one of those "must haves" of OT cd's. Walt Koken, Claire milner, Kellie and Pete Peterson. Tish is helping me on the guitar.

I learned this years ago from an old friend who sang it like a songbird. We like to play this with Marvin Gaster's fiddling but at a more sedate pace. G tuning 2-finger

This is from Wade Ward. I learned it from my pal Lo Gordon. We play it as a duet with one of us starting on the melody and the other on the harmony part so that it swaps the parts back and forth between us. Open D in 2-finger style

aDADE tuning 2-finger style. I first learned this in Am from an old Crockett Family recording and later changed it so I could play with fiddlers who all seem to set it in Dm. John Burke made a banjo tab book way back and I think a companion fiddle book. He set it in Dm and I suspect that's where everyone learned it.

2-finger style aDADE tuning. This is a favorite song of mine but I've only recently started to play it. I was inspired by the playing and singing of Lori Nitzel. I chose the key of D just because it works so easily in two octaves.
