A break from steaks, and BLTs. Tonight a 3 salad dinner. 1. Marilyn made tabouleh from a big parsley and tomato harvest from our garden. 2. A caprese salad with home grown tomatoes. 3. A “Southern Shrimp Pasta Salad” with pasta, shrimp pcs, garden herbs, and many store bought veggies, in a herbed and spiced vinaigrette . Etc. (Too many cocktails to have wine with dinner.). Brad
Tabouleh, Caprese and some Slammin'Salmon! What a Great meal that would be.
Tonight, Hungarian Turkey Sandwiches, or Hunky Turkey, as Hungarians call it.
Crusty bread, minced onion, minced green pepper, thin slices of a home grown tomato, thinly sliced radish.
Cook some thick sliced bacon, use your first piece of crusty bread to mop up some of the bacon fat from your cast iron, spoon on some minced vegetables, drizzle a bit of fat on them, lay on the radishes, then several slices of the tomato, dash of salt, drizzle a bit more fat, then lay on the top piece of bread. If you think you won't like it, you're wrong.
Deviled Eggs, French Fries, Ginger Ale, and there's a nice meal for a hot, Summer Day.

Sunday Morning breakfast on the front porch. Strawberries with crème fraiche, coffee from fresh ground beans in a "pour through". Also, showing off our new awning canvas shade. The shade blocks the intense west sun for just sitting on the front porch in the early evening. An old time tradition, eh.

Clarification. No turkey in the "Hunky Turkey"? brad

There is actually no turkey, in this sandwich.
Hey Brad, my heat source for the Wok is my new outdoor 270,000 BTU flame thrower propane wok burner with wok insert. I’m in the process of building a mobile wok station for outdoor use. My cast iron griddle fits on top for smash burgers and my cast iron pans fit on top for searing my Sous vide foods. Very intense heat!!! I love it !!!

I wondered, because with my antique gas stove, I can not generate enough heat for wok, or large pots of water, or super hot searing. So a few years back, I bought an outdoor propane cooker on legs, to do some high heat cook projects. Your burner look looks better than the burner on my rig. They are great with cast iron, for sure. There is actually no turkey, in this sandwich.
I first tried one of these at the Birmingham Neighborhood Festival in the north part of Toledo, Ohio.
The Birmingham Ethnic Neighborhood was populated by Hungarians. There was a Polish neighborhood just on the other side of the highway. We called that Poletown. No idea why we didn't call the other Hunkytown.
The Birmingham Neighborhood was Great! Bakeries with Paczki(poonchkey), Tony Packos' Hungarian Hot Dogs, restaurants serving Chicken Paprikas and so many delicious foods.
At the festival wheni was 17, I was headed over to one of the food wagons to get a corn dog or maybe some onion rings when the vendor tells me, "No Corn Dog! Hunky Turkey and Fries! You want Drink?"
So I bought two sandwiches and a bucket of steak fries and was very surprised! Maybe better than a Corn Dog?!(sacrilege!)
Stopped at "The Two Fat Sisters" bakery for dinner, a couple loaves of braided bread my mom liked and doughnuts. Hit Packos' for a couple dogs and German Potato Salad and the waitress told me how to make my own Hunky Turkey. Been eating them ever since

First settled in the 1830's on Indianapolis west side, is an old working class neighborhood of Wayne Township called Haughville, that to hear Mother tell it, was full of Honyocks. Most all big cities contain similar neighborhoods. Anyone have any interesting Honyock recipes? ![]()

Tonight was grilled garlic lime boneless skinless chicken thighs, Chile relleno bake, and salad. Beautiful night on the deck watching the Wednesday night sailboat races on the bay. In the summer the Wednesday night sailboat races have been going on as long as I can remember!!! Cheap entertainment!!! Dinner and a show!!!

Don't worry Bud...
The Jiffy Pop sequill..will soon be released...
Invalid food here. Soup and sandwiches. And lots of Gatorade and Ensure. I really dislike Gatorade, and even more so, now. Been making grilled cheese for Bob, as that seems to sit well with him. I think today is his last day of quarantine, and tomorrow is mine. This whole thing makes no sense to me, but I'm too fatigued to worry about it much right now.
I want Taco Bell, Darn it!
