Fried Bologna Sandwich, yellow mustard, touch of mayo, thin sliced onion, slice of tomato & a slice of provolone on white bread.

Sides were German Potato Salad and a fruit cup prepared by my awesome DIL.

Sat down after with a 61 year old, Meerschaum-Lined, Briar Pipe filled with the classic blend, now made by Peterson, Nightcap. If you don't smoke a pipe, you don't know what I'm talking about, if you do, Yeah Buddy!

I made some strong, iced tea with lemon and just a little honey, but my glass was sitting right next to an 18 year old Scotch, so, there's that ...

The above is a more than adequate scenario of a Good Evening

Last nite, we had grilled cheese sammiches with turkey and bacon fried up. Was soooo good, quick and easy! Sweet tea to wash it back. Served on a paper towel and devoured in good time.

I fixed a chicken and rice casserole that was delicious. Added onions, broccoli, cream of chicken soup, seasonings, and let it simmer on the stove until most of the liquid was absorbed into the rice. Served with a side of homemade pinto beans and a small salad. Very tasty and filling and enough left for several more meals (will freeze part of it, eat the rest as leftovers).

Nothing fancy, just good, healthy down-home type cooking.

N...she used some jerk seasoning in the beer batter she made too..

It picked up a nice apple wood smoke flavor also..

Really good with the tarter sauce she whipped up..

Raised in the Midwest, 50s era, food was rather bland & unexciting, excepting holidays @ Grandma's house.
California changed that. I'm doing Cajun tonight, with an East Indian side, washed down with a good wine.

The Cajun dish was Crawfish Étouffée, over rice. The Indian side was a mildly spiced mixture of yams, tomatoes, & onions, topped with a head of cauliflower. All told, quite time-consuming, but well worth the effort. Yummy.

I know some people that left here on Friday & they are crossing Alberta now. Making time to get to Ontario & all points east. Destination Cape Breton Island! You would have to tear me away from the Maritimes with a lobster tail in one hand & a bowl of seafood chowder in the other!

I'm getting pics as they motor along. They are making time through the Flyover Provinces!

Thunder Bay to Toronto is fun! Trees.trees, trees, sky, trees, trees, rocks, sky, etc. Then Mayhem!

Terry is cooking Rouladen now. Squares of thin pounded beef wrapping up strips of onion with dill pickle & mustard in a thick brown gravy. Boiling up some big hollow noodles.

There was a guy on here that had a boiled peanut stand. He showed a picture of his Rig.
