Looks like you gutted your stuffed chops before eating them?  hmmm, Brad

We had a grade six Religion text and manual (Catholic public school) back in the mid-Eighties that had a unit on various world religions and cultures. One of the activities in the manual was a feast with various foods. This included a recipe for sweet and sour spareribs. So we made these up in the staff room and served them (among other things) in class.

The Mrs., being the resourceful sort, appropriated the recipe to make them a semi-regular menu item at home. She hadn't made them, though, since we moved to Kingston. Recently she revived the "tradition". We had them tonight. They feature green peppers and pineapple chunks, and are served on a bed of rice.

(One thing about the class activity. Some students stayed after school to help with cleanup in the staff room. I had to go down to the office to make a call to another school. While I was on the phone, waiting for the teacher to pick up, my students called down on the p.a. to say that the sink was clogged and wouldn't drain out. So I told them, "Shove your hand down and pull it out!" Of course, I said this just as the other teacher answered the phone.)

It's been a while since we've done one of these! It's a 12 pounder with the fat cap on! We put the top racks on & did 2 12lb. pork shoulders up top one  at the same time. We had more friends back then.

We have a turkey fryer that we used to do crab boils with the corn & red potatoes, shellfish & prawns. Newspaper on the picnic table. Crusty rolls , garlic butter & hot sauce.

Flattened out a pkg of chicken breasts to prepare and refrigerate for easy sandwiches and wraps. Several seasoning combos, but for tonight basic salt and pepper with a brown mustard and garlic aioli, red onions, tomato, Spinach and cucumber in a sun-dried tomato wrap.

Love the poblanos and love me some chili rellenos , although they are a pain in the arse to make. There are really good ones and really bad ones , and the good ones are amazing!!! Roasted and skinned poblanos are so fruity and mild and really accentuate mex or Tex mex or south west dishes!!! That’s as green as I can get!!!

Yeah! That looks really good Paula!

I ground up a blade steak with some extra fat for sliders . Smash burgers in the cast iron last night & there's still some burger leftover for a few on the grill tonight! Fresh corn on the cob & some baby potatoes in a tinfoil packet for an easy school night dinner!

On Sunday, I smoke-roasted a chicken and a head of cauliflower. And, in frozen bread section, I found frozen (need to bake) Red Lobster cheddar biscuits. For Marilyn, I am counting carbs, AGAIN. Arggghhh. Brad

Is that a roasted onion Brad? I love a roasted onion, especially with a roast chicken.

Yes. I put half of it in the chicken, then lightly smoke roasted the other half.  Brad

It’s been a great eating week so far and been too busy to post!!! Tonight was Mexican night at home and we had spicy stewed chicken and black beans in sauce, Spanish rice, cilantro lime slaw, beef tamales and homemade whole wheat tortillas, and all kissed with some Trader Joe’s Green Dragon sauce and some habanero sauce!!!
Slammer!!!
