You doen good, it would seem. brad
We have had intermittent Internet since our power went out at 4pm. Easter Sunday. We were ready to put Terry's Blue Ribbon prosciutto wrapped turkey breast stuffed with black forest ham & Swiss cheese in the oven. It was still warm from me crisping up my bacon ribs.
Then. BOOM BOOM OUT WENT THE LIGHTS! Utility shed with 13 "Smart Meters" FRIED! We're #13!!
We always have water & sewer without power, lots of battery lights, wood heat & ways to cook.
We both took took the Monday off to regroup & get in supplies & cook the turkey on the gasser. The whole dinner turned out as nice or better cooked outside. We cooked a whole pound of bacon in the cast iron on the Coleman with all the fixings for breakfast the next morning. I had a brand new dollar store wire brush & i used all that grease to anoint the cast iron grills to a shiny black!
We steamed rice & veggies on a propane burner inside & for heating dishwater. Hot water is the biggest thing I'll have solved for next time! Our neighbour shot us an extension cord from her generator to keep our fridge going. I have one of those car booster units you can start your car or fill up your tire units. There's a USB hole for phones & those rocking little speakers they make now.
We made it 9 days! They have a big genset hooked up & going for us now . I bought some nice rib eyes, corn on the cob & little potatoes for tonight ! All cooked inside with the heat pump rocking!

Beanee Weanee & Corn Bread!
One of my favorite meals!
We’re in Minnesota visiting Sonny Boy and his family and my Son made Lengua ( beef tongue) tacos and chicken pastor tacos with corn tamales. The beef tongue was Sous Vide for 24 hours, then skinned, chopped and fried in a cast iron skillet with the reduced braising liquid. WOW, just WOW!!! It was the richest beefiest meat ever, or at least until tomorrow’s 14 hour smoked prime brisket!!! In not gonna tell ya how many tacos I ate, but it was A LOT, even for me !!!
El Slammer!!!
The brisket is looking to be a 12 hour cook instead of a 14 hour due to cold outdoor temps and the Damn Wind. Super windy out today, but we are on schedule with the brisket and it is at about 160 degrees and going into “The Stall”. Wrapping it in butcher paper for the rest of the cook !!!

I get all ready to go then call the Keg Store and order the thing for "Steve" and they say "20 minutes".
I then take off and get there in 20 minutes if I push it a little on the back roads.I love me that little Hyundai in the bends.

Originally posted by RonRWe bought these frozen lobster tails from a local wholesaler. If you thaw them first, then broil for 8 minutes they taste as good as fresh. I think I need to go back for more.
I still owe the family a lobster roll dinner. I see these smallish frozen tails at the stores. Can one tail make a full lobster roll? Or how much tail do you need for a lobster roll, I forget. Brad

Yum. I used to make a lot of corn bread served with cane syrup, and boudin. Another Yum for that. Brad
