We had Indian tonight, and it was really good. Potato chickpea and mango curry, spicy aubergines, lentil & spinach daal, and rotis - they should be round but I’ll be buggered if I can work out how to roll a ball of dough into a bloody circle !!

If it's like a chapati you don't roll it. You pat it between your palms. Mine always come out like a map of South America.

I'm glad I'm not alone!! I reckon I've got most continents and a couple of principalities covered ....

I have been out in the field for 2 weeks staying in a run down job site shack. It’s nice to be home and not having to share my food with the mice. So last night a simple, fine dinner at home. Brad

I've ordered enough Asian take out food to keep me going until at least Sunday.
Curry, fried rice, chicken ball, chow mien, hoisin beef and spicy prawns.
Well worth doing every couple of months. Probably $20/day if I eat it all.
The local place is good, a huge turnover in fresh ingredients, too.
Made a honey garlic hoisin sauce and a peanut soy for dippers.

Cheated and actually decided to see if the new Domino's would actually deliver out here, and they did! It's been decades since I've had that option.

They had coupons-- so we got a medium pizza and an Italian sub. Was quire good and hit the spot. 40 minutes from online order placed, to paying the driver as waving him goodbye. Not our usual thing to do, but will definitely order again!

I know the feeling Paula! we're out in the boonies too & get really spotty cell service. The card readers don't work here so we have to think ahead to have cash on hand for delivery or a taxi home.

I spit a pizza with a guy at work one night & let him know it was there. He didn't come to the lunchroom so when i was done my half I went & told him again. He said to just put it in the fridge! He was raised in the country & was used to eating it cold!

To top it off, I poured a wee tipple, a couple of ounces, of Crown Royal Canadian Rye vanilla flavor.
Forgot to drink it. Still sitting on the kitchen counter this morning!
Serious plate of leftovers for the next few nights.

I guess it's thread drift, but I figure/hope/?? it might be more appreciated (?) here than some other thread:

Dough ball rolling is tricky. With right dough on just right floured surface then a cupped hand and loose thumb roll it around. You can weigh the pieces of dough before rolling to be consistent. That said, To say mine are round May be a stretch. I see some folks on YouTube using each hand rolling 2 at a time. Yikes! Brad

Last night: we stopped into our local fish monger, and choose a red snapper slab, then across the street to the newly opened “Paris Baguette.” For a baguette. Then to grocery for what they call “French” green beans. I cooked the fish in a cast iron skillet, with a bit of evoo and butter, then removed snapper and added capers and lemon juice to pan. There is a French name for this type of sauce, sounds like “manure” but I can’t spell it. Hey Skip, some help here. Brad

Meunière butter sauce!!! Looks and sounds incredible Brad!!! Snapper is so damn good and adapts to different methods and pairs with many sauces. Simpler is better IMO . Your lucky to have a fish market!!! I’m stuck eating fresh walleye, perch, northerns, bluegills, bass and crappies………….and my favorite…….lawyers!! Wink wink!!
Love that snapper though!!!

I’ve eaten just about every kind of pasta dish in my time, but made and ate pasta Carbonara for the very first time last night. Homemade fresh spaghetti pasta and a very traditional carbonara recipe, other than I had to use bacon instead of guanciale or pancetta as it is not available here. Eggs, egg yolks, Parmesan cheese, fresh ground black pepper and pasta water. Was nice and creamy and it was good, but I don’t think I’ll make it again. Just not enough flavor for me. I guess I prefer cream or tomato sauces better. I did love the simplicity of it though !!!
Tonight is Thai green curry with chicken and vegetables over rice!!!
Slammer!!!

Thanks. I would have never spelled that right, and did not have a second device to look it up.

First snow of the year, so we made a lasagna. Haven't had one in forever. Nothing fancy-just half local butcher beef and half sweet sausage for the meat part. Simple and tasty for a chilly damp day!

Had to bake it on a pan, as I was afeared that it would bubble over and make a mess, but came out perfect!

And I'm not gonna say which kind of noodles I used, lol!

No doubt about it! This is the right weather for a nice, hot plate of Lasagna!

I can almost smell the cheese and sauce, and maybe some garlic bread!

I wanted something with lots of gravy to go with mashed potato last night. I made braised short ribs for the first time (usually bbq them) and a chunky mushroom Bourgignon (sp?) for my daughter. Both were excellent and it looks like leftover beef with bubble & squeak tonight.

I love indoor Dutch oven short ribs, usually hacking some French sauce and slowww braise.  And, don't ask me spell those Fr. Words. ;-).  Your meals look great. Brad
