Kinda like what Dennis Hull said at a roast for Darryl Sutter - he was thinking about icing a team of all Sutters but then hesitated and said, “But then who would carry the puck?”  .... however, besides the Buffy Santamaria scandal, and the Sophie/Justin travails, here's Mr. Persona non Grata's statement:

"I would like to sincerely apologize to the entire Chicago Blackhawks organization, including ownership, management, coaches, trainers, employees, and my teammates. I would also like to apologize to my fans, and my family. I am embarrassed and I have let you all down.
As a result of my actions, there has been speculation and rumors. I am sickened by the impact this has had on others, and I want to make it clear that in no way did this situation involve any of my teammates or their families. Most importantly, I want to directly apologize to those who have been negatively affected and I am sorry for the additional impact to others it has created. My behavior was inappropriate and wrong.
I have started working with experts in the mental health and substance abuse fields to discuss my struggles with alcohol and I will take whatever steps necessary to ensure this never happens again. I hope to regain the trust and respect of everyone who has believed in me throughout my career.
Once again, I am deeply sorry.

"... icing a team of all Sutters" reminds me of a few years ago when I was shooting the breeze with a guy at a ball tournament in Oak Lake, MB.  He had coached a team from there to the provincial bantam championship... I think they had 9 players [maybe even a couple from a lower age category?] .... 3 Paddocks and 6 Geekies [or t'other way round, I forget]. Anyway all brothers and/or first cousins. 

Aside from a brief mention a few months back, les travails du S/J apparently aren't considered newsworthy in Man-ee-toe-bah ... or possibly I've been catching 40 winks* when it came-and-went.

* = in prep for an evening of switching channels between games du 'ockey, catching 40 winks, some TMITMIing, tea time, catching 40 winks, music (?) on the yocal access channels, some elbow physio, etc., etc.

Well, the obvious solution would have been to put Bedard on waivers instead of Perry ... maybe Les 'abs could have benefited??   I figure that the sooner Bedard gets on a team that has a realistic chance [NOT saying Montreal qualifies  ] the better it'll be for him.  Heck, the Hawks probably could get a complete top/starting line-up for him.... then they'd be presto-change-o competitive [for la coupe Stan-lee].

I guess the appropriate counter to speculation is full disclosure??? ... although I do uphold the concept of innocent until proven guilty.  So .... ??

A somewhat amusing tidbit: apparently, Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman is ill and won't suite up tonight against Buffalo. A backup goalie will hit I-95 from Providence this afternoon (if not already there). But suiting up for practice today, on an emergency basis?

Fwiw, one time a vet administered a sedative to a sow that was a bit aggressive with her piglets. I noticed it was about 3X the rate on the package, so I asked him.   He said,"Nah... you want to really set her on her ass."

More hockey history - a la Winnipeg, TeePees, and early rumblings of an NHL Players Union, which is why Lindsay was traded from Detroit by Jack Adams.

They traded them all around - get rid of the "troublemakers" who wanted a players union. Doug Harvey was moved from the Habs. Lots of "conspirators" got pushed off their teams. Ir was a temporarily successful attempt at union busting.

I always liked those "new" Hawks uniforms. They were the first modern sweaters in the NHL, and quite the change from the busy-looking "old" sweaters.

The tomahawks at the elbows were later moved to the shoulder. Instead of a “C” the St. Catharines Black Hawks (did I ever tell yooz about them…?) had a “StC” there. I think “Black Hawks” became “Blackhawks” sometime in the 1960’s. You really can’t beat any of the “original 6” sweaters … ‘xceptin’ maybe the Leafs , lol.
