Not that it's showing much results, but on the plus side it allowed for a bit more TIMTIMing.

The DC/MD response might be “yeah, but would “those” people fight if there was a war??!!”
They asked Tortorella/Cinderella about the Provorov boycott,, he just said it’s a religious issue with him and he’s sticking up for himself. He pushed aside any more question’s aboot it.

Torts was also pretty critical of Colin Kaepernick and the whole kneeling thing, so there's that. Which doesn't mean that I find him any less amusing (Favorite Torts quote: "I'm not here to babysit millionaires").
And on another topic... for those of you in the western part of Canuckistan, what's the over/under on Bo Horvat? Will Vancouver re-sign him, or is he clearly out the door? I know my Bruins are interested but I don't know how they make the money work, given that they're likely to pay Pasta between $10-11 mm AAV... and that's if they can get him to agree to a hometown discount (my bet is the big holdup on the re-sign is no evidence of a first-line center after this season... which is part of the reason why Horvat is attractive)...
I haven’t heard the latest on Horvat other than it’s messy in Van right now, including Boudreau’s job being on the line. I knew a scout that worked under Rutherford in Carolina and he said Jim’s a tough, insensitive guy that was difficult to work for. He told me he and Rutherford went to Europe for 2 weeks to check out prospects,,,, said no wonder the guy’s been married 5 times! lol
How is the Habs' defense being coached? What a train wreck. All those young prospective "stars" may get ruined before their time, with the way things are going.

So I went to a game today between the Boston Bruins' AHL team and the Hartford Wolf Pack, the AHL team of the NY Rangers. The Wolf Pack won 4-2 in OT. More importantly, I was not blown away by the ProBru, or the depth of the Bruins' bench.
There were several players who've played with Boston and likely will do so again once the playoff season starts. injuries occur, and roster sizes are relaxed. But realistically, while there are some guys who will no doubt don the black and gold in late March, there was only one player that truly impressed me. Jack Ahcan (pronounced aSHan). He's a 5-8, 180# D. And that's tiny for a defenseman in the NHL.
Reminds me a lot of Tory Krug, who suffers from the same stature impairment.
Honestly, I don't understand why Ahcan wasn't told to become a forward and trained accordingly. Yes, he's small for a forward. But he's fearless, and he skates like the wind.
From my layman's perspective switching from defense to winger is fall-off-the-log easy compared to t'other way around.
Something I've never understood is how early in minor hockey a player gets labeled/stuck as a "(insert position)" even though the initial placement/assessment (?) might be done by a person none too knowledgeable about hockey.
It's a few levels shy of ^^, but one year I tried out for UofM Junior Bisons. We had to fill in a position on the registration form, so I put "left wing." I lasted 3 days in camp .... played every (skater) position except left wing. [No sour grapes, I was too slow afoot ... defense or forward, same difference.]

Duncan Keith was small for a defenceman, but his talents and quickness made him very effective.
(a tale I've regrettably told before - my very last game as a hockey player was on defence , grudgingly, as I'd been a winger all my life. It was the University of Guelph intramural final and about10 minutes into the game a guy came barreling down my side, I was skating backwards , went to pivot to forwards to keep up to the guy, stumbled,blew a tire, & the s.o.b. scored. I'm still p.o.'d at Terry Brown for talking me into playing that game.....)

Quite an interesting night around the NHL last evening. The Bolts beat Boston, Nashville beat New Jersey, Buffalo beat Winnipeg, the Ducks beat the Avalanche, Chicago clobbered Calgary, and Arizona stomped on St. Louis. One could argue these are all upsets.
IF it was coffee, I guess we might say "Good to the last drop." ???
Just heard about Bobby Hull . I was not a huge hockey fan, but his name in the sport was Legend and remember him playing when I was a kid !!! RIP Mr. Hull and keep yer stick on da ice !!!

When I was in grade 4 my teacher was his sister in law. People were always bring her in stuff to get signed by him!
Sadly can't remember her name.
We used to get those plastic replacement blades from CTC & a decent shaft from a broken stick. Cut the stick off square to the length you need. Then get mom to boil a big pot of water.Soften it up in there & bend it like Bobby Hulls blade. They held up pretty good playing road apple!

When I took periodic sabbaticals from life to get drunk for a few months in Vancouver and do my “struggling artist” thing, I went to a (you guessed it) Blackhawks/Canucks tilt at the old Coliseum. It was Stan Mikita’s final year (did I ever tell you he was an ex-TeePee in my hometown…?) and you could see the bulge of the back brace he wore at that time. It was a bad sign,,,, however, he made it through the game unscathed.
