Ha! On Thursday I dropped in on the Zoom session that Larry Hill ("Helix" here on BHO) has been promoting here. It's in Arizona, so it's three hours late for me. But I enjoyed it. They did three rounds of one song each. Due to the time difference and stuff, I only did one number (a guitar instrumental of "Both Sides, Now") but stuck around to listen/watch. You might want to check it out. I could send you the links. I hope to try again this week, the Mrs.' and the cat's bedtimes notwithstanding.

Yeah, Larry had contacted me about joining his zoom open mic,, I have so far demurred. Online stuff like that doesn’t appeal to me much,,, but then I guess I could take one for the team. I’ll mull it over.

Fwiw, I'm not a rabid fan of doubles curling.... too contrived and every end looks pretty much the same, with 90% of the play along the center line.   There's lots of finesse shots, but ?????  I think an occasional cross-check, slash or butt-end [depending on whose it is, of course ] would improve things immensely.   I expect OTGAO would concur.

Okay, you mediocre experts, on a scale of 0 - 100 how much "intent" was there by Perry in clipping Tavares's head?   I'd say "0."   [About as much as Webb (?) hitting Pilliar in the face the other nite.] 

Who is this a__ h___ Foligno, anyhow? To my mind, in situations like that it's too bad Perry didn't/couldn't cold-cock the jerk.   Fwiw, I don't recall OTGAO ever being as classless as Foligno, or the Maple Laffs if they condoned it.

I hope/trust that JT will be okay.... I think odds are in his favour, considering how many "coulda beens" there are in sport.

Perry was not at fault, as far as I could tell. But he’s a chippy player so who knows what was on his mind. Remember dumb Domi taking out Scott Niedermayer? These guys will do ANYTHING to win a Cup. Neither Domi nor Perry had/have a Cup win.
As far as Foligno, I thought it was stupid,, but there might’ve been a method to his madness. I think it was more to pick his team up rather than retribution.

....and furthermore I think being on the receiving end of "cold cocked" is a fitting outcome for trying (?) to lift/inspire your team by scrapping.  Don't get me wrong... there is a role for scrapping; but ^^ ain't it, in spite of what OTGAO and the analysts (?) [btw, the CHL's are noticeably worse than the NHL's] want us to believe.   One of these days I'll tell you how I really feel about it. 

I didn't see the game - I was on an open mic out of Phoenix. But there's a pretty comprehensive replay of the hit on the CBC site. The speed Perry was going, I find it hard to believe it was intentional (or, I hope it wasn't intentional). The CP report called it a knee to the head. To me it looked like the toe of the skate.

Was Foligno under orders? Or not explicitly, but the coach knew what was going to happen?

Chuck, if Foligno was trying to pick up his team, why didn't he pummel Weber? .... or was it just dumb luck that Perry was the closest to him for the face-off? 

I recall a tale about Tony Twist. Another enforcer (?) who's name I forget, lined up opposite Twist.  The guy apparently commented: "I guess you know why we're out here."  Twist's answer: "Ya, just skate around... I'll find ya."   

Edit: And, yes, Byron's goal was pretty nifty.  A few more like that and he'll start thinking he's McDavid or Crosby.
