Fwiw, it reminds me of when I tore my knee up ..... momentarily it looked like 1/2 of a swastika...... got to hospital and had it X-rayed.... sat for a l-o-n-g time and then the intern shows up and says: "We don't have the X-rays yet; I'm going off-duty and that would mean a different doctor would have to take over; I don't think it's anything serious; you can go home."     .....And yet, those were the good old days!!

As the TO game was progressing, I was anticipating being able to use "Habs Still In Hunt For Undefeated Season" as a headline, but 2 minutes of 5-on-3 put the kibosh on that.   The [mediocre??] analysts attributed the turn-around to the Simmonds-Chairot scrap.... I suppose some will say it's evidence of the wide spread and long-lasting  influence of MD/DC.   I never did buy into that line of thinking........ I suppose it was a complete fluke, but somehow I was able to separate the wheat from the chaff.    

I see the Jets have traded Laine and Roslovic to Columbus for Pierre-Luc Dubois.  To demonstrate how much I stay attuned, my first reaction was "Pierre-Luc who?"   But a couple of [mediocre] experts say it could work out very well for the Jets.  Laine was a fan favorite, however.

I guess the "real" news is that Les Habs have activated Corey Perry  from their taxi squad.  Again, I guess it shows where my head is; I didn't know he was a Hab.  He's never been one of my favorite players [kinda chippy]...... but I'm a man.... I can change.... if I have to [read: if they win].

Perry can walk faster than he can skate... good luck with that, although he looked pretty good for Dallas in the finals last season.

The oldtimer Perry just “walked” in (his linemate had to slow right down at the blue line so he wouldn’t go off-side) and pushed a 50 mph shot through into the back of the net.

How was it NOT off-side on Gallagher's goal???   I don't see how Gallagher not having the puck "on" his stick is of any consequence.  When the puck enters the zone it creates a "delayed" off-side.  The Canadiens all have to "clear the zone"  or simultaneously tag-up [which they don't do]....and in fact the right winger never does clear the zone.  In order to do that he would have to get into the neutral zone, not just onto the blue line.... at least that's how the rule is written... though not usually called.  How come I'm the lone "dissenter"??

I dunno.... I'll have to check into it [I think the commentators did make some mention of some change.... but for sure there was no explanation].

So far as I know, it used to be written that the edge of the blue line that is the determining factor depends on the direction the play/puck/player is moving.  For Gallagher and the puck going "in" it's the inner edge.... for the player(s) tagging up or after possession in gained inside the zone, and /or play is coming out, it's the "outer edge."   

But that's not the way it's been called for years.... tagging up was generally deemed okay if the skates of the guy coming out got  onto the line.  They might have changed the written rule to be aligned with the way it had been [erroneously] called.   But in tonight's example Gallagher never did tag up ... even if the deciding edge for the guy tagging up is changed to be the inner edge.      

Anyway that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it [for now]..... Jets/Sens picture is on and SNB radio is in my headphones..... can't take on a third task just now.

The new change just allows a player to be on side if his trailing skate is in the air and not past the position of the blue line. No mention of what Craig Simpson mentions about the attacking player with the puck not touching it as it crosses the blue line. To me that’s like shooting it in when a guy is still in the offensive zone...I don’t get it. Green even challenged it and the verdict came back “on side”. I haven’t found any new hockey sleuths with more revelations on this, a most serious matter, Owen.

p.s. #2 , tagging up requires a player to just be in contact with the blue line with his skate. 

I didn't see the game. I didn't know Green challenged. I know that "Potatoes" Julien would have challenged it in a heartbeat. He jumps on everything.

Holger can play what he wants. Geez. You need to get out more.  As the late Zal Yanovsky (lead guitar for the Lovin' Spoonful and founder of amazing Kingston restaurant Chez Piggy and Pan Chancho bakery) is reputed to have said about electric music, "It's loud, and you can dance to it, and it's loud." 

I see the Habs are in first place. The universe is unfolding as it should - for now.
