USA - 3 / Slovakia - 1 after 2....... but it's bedtime for this oldtimer.   I expect the USA will prevail..... they're playing their typical style:  fast-paced and never let up.   No gimmees at this point but I think USA will be a tougher test [in the semi final ?] than either the Finns or the Ruskies in the final.     But, nobody's paying me for my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.

If Kenney says he "accepts responsibility," that's good enough for me!!      Up on the fly-in reserves, the T.A.s used to threaten (?) kids with "I'll write you up."    The system involved submitting an "incident report" that the principal then had to deal with... but as far as either my wife or I could see, the T.A.s didn't seem to realize it went beyond "I'll write you up."

On one of the reserves, a colleague was helping out with Sat. nite fundraising radio bingos.  After the last game, there was time  [1/2 hour I think] allowed for winners to call  in and have their cards verified.   He had borrowed my  O Brother Where Art Thou* CD to fill air time.   Apparently after having his numbers checked one guy  advised my friend [no 4 second delay]: "...and don't play any more of that %$#&%%& music!!"   It took my colleague a couple of days to  "recover."

As I understand it, Chuck, SNB takes requests.......... you could request "NO %$#&$%& electric instruments."

I've liked senior* [Allan Cup] for many years......... although coverage is kinda iffy**.  A few more of those AB oil $$ should improve TV coverage.... esp. in light of Bentley/Lacombe doing fairly well recently.

Even Rick Vaive p, a 50-goal scorer, went and played for Dundas in the Senior A league after he quit the NHL,,haven’t checked but I think they won the Allan Cup (nope,, just checked) In years past the Allan Cup winners would represent Canada at the Olympics & World Tourney, as u know. Trail Smoke Eaters being one I believe.

However, I did hear of a case where a doc had been charged with selling "bennies" to senior amateur football players in the mid-60s.  As I understand it, the court did not accept his [attempted] guilty plea and found him not guilty.  Apparently he had the reputation as a solid citizen and had spent considerably amounts of his free [volunteer]  time attending high-school games primarily because he thought it good to have doc on hand.  This was apparently taken into consideration, as was the statement-of-fact (?) that he had never supplied high school players.   Fwiw, I have no personal knowledge of this, so I suppose it could qualify as hear-say.
