I also think I'd find it a lot more gratifying to help develop the skills of a promising young player, as opposed to attempting to squeeze the last few grams of goodness out of a millionaire.

the top ten nfl coaches make between 13 million and 20 million per year

top ten college football coaches make between 10 million and 13.5 million per year.

none of them are starving !!!!

That's it exactly. In Division 1, NCAA football coaches are NEARLY as vulnerable as NFL coaches - just looked it up; average tenure is less than four years. Even so, it appears to be a more stable environment than the pros.

Seems that MSL is doing the former with les Canadiens. And maybe in a few years he'll be doing the latter.

I've not had the pleasure myself, but a friend had his nose broken several times.  He was active in sports though not quite NHL level.  I remember him telling us that a couple of instances were straight out of the comics ... eg. peeking around the corner during a snowball fight and taking a harder-than-necessary one on the beak and stepping on a rake and having it come up and whap him in the face.   Apparently the removal of the gauze packing was an "interesting" part of the experience .... both the feeling then the "visual."     [RIP Irv.]

Guess who?
(Hespeler was a small mill town on the Speed ! River, now part of Cambridge, ON, & about 35 miles north of the kid’s hometown).   Hespeler hockey sticks were popular, not sure if they made out it as far as friendly Man-ee-toe-bah...

Vaguely, only for a short time though. Victoriavilles and Sherbrookes were around.

If there's a way to embed a vid from X here, I don't know it. But this is pretty funny... and it involves our gal.

^^^^ it’s ironic that the 2 so-called centres of NHL hockey are New York and Toronto - Rangers with one Stanley Cup since 1940, and the Leafs none since 1967.

It is, or was, the Center of the Media Universe. Presumably, that's why.

Sad day indeed.   [The lay-out and vehicle movement sounds very much like the Carberry crash.]

=========================================================================================================

This popped up on my Facebook feed this evening ... It's gratifying to know there's more to St. Catharines than a couple of Mem. Cups. cheeky

Though I do have my Dad's fiddle in my possession, I have no Idea why they'd be notifying me, nevertheless .... from the Niagara Old Tyme Fiddlers Association >> Facebook >> BHO:

May be an image of studying, flute, violin, trumpet, guitar, saxophone and clarinet

Are those things in the front mics?!?!?  Tsk! Tsk!

I guess they follow the dots , I recently joined the Niagara Region Bluegrass Club , Facebook group, and the FB dicks must have been snooping around checking out your Langenburg jam & other of our banjo ramblings,,, maybe even tying in Cockshutt tractors with Manitoba fiddlers hard by the Togo, SK line. It's beyond me why they'd need mics,, the old pre-ee laka triss it ee days had the fiddle and banjo playing the rural hall dances. (is that a lone banjo I see way in the back...?)

I had the good fortune to watch the Flames beat the Oilers this evening,, my daughter, SIL, and grandson hauled me kicking & screaming with them… sort of.
One thing I find phony,, and yeah, I know it’s show biz,,, is this continuing “Battle of Alberta” hokum.
However, once my disdain subsided I fairly enjoyed the game,, McDavid racing around at his best ,, the aging Kraut Draisaitl firing one-timers from acute angles, and the ever-pesky Hyman prancing & pushing bodies and goalies in the crease. However, the dogged work by the home team resulted in victory as sulky Oiler stars retreated down the tunnel.

It popped up on my Facebook page just now that the guy the McKenna punched had come out with some "gamesmanship"/trash talk about McKenna's mother.  I didn't try to verify anything, but IF that's accurate, it's good to see "the code" being upheld ... just how it should be out on da hice, IMNSHumbleO.
