Well, as is often the case, I don’t quite get your post,, probably my failing memory fails to remember who said Dodgers in 4 or 5,, and as to context I think I laid that out. I’ve heard that said before by baseball announcers after 4 1/2 innings. To me it sounds like the guy doesn’t like his job ,, we used to say stuff like that on night shift at the factory at lunch - “halfway there”.  Hurtin' Albertans ?  They're lucky they've got booze cans to play in....

When I watch/snooze/TIM the games I often extrapolate ..... 4-0  after one??  ... looks like it could end up 32-0, no?  And I also put my elementary school learning about fractions to use to see if they'll finish before my 11:00 bedtime.  Anyhoo, though you gave your opinion, without hearing the guys tone/inflection, etc. I can't say how I would interpret it.... not saying it wasn't as you described it, just saying I dunno ... there could be other possibilities.  C'est la vie??  [And should that announcer's babble be any more upsetting than the typical analysts' babble?]

The failure to take a primary lead at third and failing to run through at home - it was a force out play, not a tag play, there was no reason to slide.

IKF is already fully down on one leg and with the other foot digging into the slide like a bulldozer, arms up in the air, this is the slowest way possible to get to the plate. For all the statistics baseball keeps, I hope drag co-efficient calculation becomes a thing.

To my surprise and delight, and undermanned Boston Broons beat the Maple Leafs last night. The new approaches brought in by Marco Sturm are working, at least for now.

The Broons are now in second place in the Atlantic division and fifth place in the Eastern conference. They came off a six-game losing streak straight into a six-game winning streak, tied with Anaheim for longest current winning streak.

Trade deadline acquisitions Marat Khusnutdinov and Fraser Minten are core players - Khusnutdinov was a bottom sixer until Elias Lindholm got hurt, was slotted into the first line with Pasta and Geekie, and is doing very well indeed.

Speaking of Geekie, his newly-signed contract is starting to look like a bargain. And after an unimpressive start last year, Nikita Zadorov is steadily showing that his contract is good value, too.

All of which is really annoying, because if there's one thing Broons fans enjoy more than seeing the team win, it's hating on Don Sweeney. And it's really hard to hate him right now.

Habs trounced the Mammoth last night - it's about time that their transition and speed game paid off. They're getting lots of breakaways, two (or more) on ones. Good drafts and trades (and contract signings*) have brought success, and check out what's in the pipeline in Laval and elsewhere. Plus Caufield seems to have perfected the art of scoring from the goal/crease line. Now to have them take and hold the lead consistenltly.

They're a big improvement over the way they used to play. It seems that Martin St. Louis' coaching style (lots of patient teaching) is paying off. This team really enjoys playing together. And they're so young, they'll be a threat for years.

The Habs are indeed a team to watch this year, for all the reasons cited! That said, though I don't expect miracles, I'm also delighted by the show that Utah is delivering. After all those years of suckful business in Yon Steenkin' Desert - to say nothing of pulling revenues that could go to players in markets with a clue from said markets - that team has new life, new spirit, new attitude and a city that's genuinely please to have them. Might be a few years before anyone considers them a serious contender, I could see them getting there.

Your final question puzzles me. The Broons and The Oil have two meetings this year, both in December. In other words, they've not yet seen each other. And The Broons are a way different team than last year, even if I could remember what happened back then, which I can't, in that there are certain things I leave in RAM rather than memorializing on the hard drive.

I do a l-o-t of channel hopping* [Riders in the Grey Cup anyone?] ... didn't the Mammoth(s) outshoot les 'abs last nite?   I know it's not foolproof, but more often than not SOG is a useful gauge, IMNSHumbleO.
