Here's another on my Ramsey fretless Student. It's in eEEG#B. I recorded it while looking out the window at way too much snow in Eastern Washington. I think I play it crooked, but I don't care. I learned this from Bob Carlin's first album Old Time Fiddle Tunes for CH Banjo

This is another of my favorite sawmill tunes, but I often play it in double C. This is the only tune where I use chokes/bends and where I use the chuck/cluck. I also play it over the neck, which is not something I usually do. I'm playing this on my Wildwood.

This is my first fretless tune. I arranged this based on Tommy Jarrel's fiddle version on Sail Away Ladies. It's in 3/4 time, but it doesn't really feel like a waltz. I play it on my Ramsey fretless Student. Tuning is gDGBD. It's aka Jack of Diamonds or Rye Whiskey. You can find the tab here: http://enyepa.110mb.com/

This is one of my favorite songs in sawmill tuning. I'm playing it on my new Wildwood Minstrel that I like a lot, but I'm still getting used to it. I learned this back in the early 1980's from a Bob Carlin tab in BNL. After all these years I hope I've put something of myself in there.

I'm playing this in gCGCD on my old no name half fretless. It's really a kind of junky banjo, but I like it a lot for some reason. Played in jig time the tune is aka New Rigged Ship. The cut time version is aka Raw Recruit/Old Hickory/Jackson's March. I worked this out from a dulcimer version on an old album called Pigtown Fling with some help from Dan Leveson's tab.

I play this in eAEAC# on my fretless Ramsey. I think my mic volume was too high (sorry). Anyway, I arranged it based on Tommy Jarrell's fiddle version that he plays in D-ish. He says he learned it from an "old colored fella" who played it on guitar in A. Mike Seeger plays a guitar version in A on his Early Southern Guitar Sounds. James Leva has a version on his Memory Theatre CD. I put a tab of the basic tune online that you can link to through my BHO page.
