Well, folks, It's been a good long while since I posted an update on my comings and goings here on Banjo Hangout. Leave it to say, I'm still here. I Ain't Dead Yet.
As it is for so many of us here, music is hobby of mine. It certainly is not my occupation or I would have starved a long time ago,
But I did start a band a few years back here in the Dallas Fort Worth area and we are reasonably busy, believe it or not, playing our old-time string band music at various venues. Lately, we have been playing bars and craft breweries. Millennials see us as "authentic," whatever the hell that means.
But we certainly are different. None of the music we play is older than the 1930s. Oh, I almost forgot, we're the Lone Star String Band. Not exactly the most creative name for a band, but it does the job for us. If you have a moment, visit our website and say hello. We have some live performance videos that you just might like. (If you don't, you can keep that to yourself.)
I'm on Facebook and the Lone Star String Band has its own page, so feel free to visit.
Finally, I am quite comfortable playing gigs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It's huge, with more than 7 million people. But I would love to take our band over to Great Britain, Scotland and Ireland one day. I think they would really get a kick out of us. How that would exactly work, well, I'm not so sure. But if you have ideas, I'm all ears.
Take care and best of luck to you.
