Hi Folks,
Settling in here in Southern Ohio and have the garden on the way! There are several pieces of news since getting here.
One, the new book, Fred Cockerham and Tommy Jarrell - Clawhammer Banjo Masters is here! The third in the Masters series with co-author Bob Carlin features the music of Tommy and Fred and you can order it at my website now.
Also this month only, I am offering 20% off on all books and cds. Mel Bay Publications has made me their feature author this month so in honor of that I am offering the same discount they are. And I have good inventory with me at the Ohio place, so let's get that gone! Been waiting to order your copy of Old Time Festival Tunes or Old Time Favorites? Now is the time. NOTE: I take the discount off when I process your card so you don't have to worry about the prices shown.
Also in the book world, you will shortly see a reduction in the price of Clawhammer Banjo From Scratch BUT, there is a catch. Up until now the CBFS book has been spiral bound AND included two CDs of all the exercises and tabs in the book, which most folks love but that is going away. SO, I have 9 copies of the spiral version left at the regular price (with discount now!) but when they are gone, they are gone. It will go to a new type of binding which still lays flat, but not spiral AND the audio will be online only for download to those who get the book. A bit inconvenient but a lower cost. If you PREFER to have the other version, just let me know with a note when you order.
Yipe Skype! - Got a connection! Taking new (and returning) students. Wednesdays for now.
Why is this such a big deal? Many of you may be unaware that there are still many spots in this country that are NOT connected to convenient, unlimited high speed internet - especially in, well, the country (rural areas) AND, you guessed it, my Ohio home is in one of those spots. Yes, I could pay the cell company $329 a month (yes, US Dollars) for a whopping 50 Gig of use. And while that seems like a lot of space, one hour of Skype time uses about 2 gigs so it doesn't go far. Satellite? cost $250 for equipment plus usage and again the same limits. NO cable, NO fiber optic, NO dsl. SO I did find that the local theater (well 30 minute drive) is offering studio space with internet and here I am.
Special thanks to the Ariel - Ann Carson Dater Performing Arts Center for making space available for us to continue our webcam lessons through the summer.
AND Finally, we are down to only 1 (one) spot left for Clawcamp East coming up July 10-12. Last chance! Looks like it is going to be a full and exciting event this year. Focus is on basics so beginners are welcome. I AM looking into a spot for a winter CC West in Tucson but nothing firm yet. (Wow, this ended up being long note, hope you don't mind.)
Concert and workshops next week (June 13-14) in Pittsburgh PA and I hope to see many of you there as I visit and play in my home town.
Well, that's all for now. Orders and more info is done through my website www.Clawdan.com.
Play Nice,
