More About Me

Known as Clawdan here on the Hangout, I am the author of 10 Mel Bay books including Clawhammer Banjo From Scratch and Old Time Festival Tunes for Clawhammer Banjo. I also have 8 recordings out both as a solo performer and with my band, The Boiled Buzzards. Ken Pearlman refered to me as "The Johnny Apple Seed of the Banjo" in my years traveling with 15 banjos to teach folks who didn't even have a banjo (and might never have had any musical background at all).

I have been a full time teacher, writer, performer and traveler for many years and yes, I've pretty much seen and heard it all.

I will work with you at your level with the goal ALWAYS to help you become a better player AND musician. In many ways, I like to teach you to not need me any longer than necessary.

I do still travel some and will set up workshops or residencies at your location when I am on the road.

I can teach all levels of Clawhammer Banjo and Old Time Fiddle from pre-beginner through performance and development.

I teach here at my home in Yuma in person or online via Skype or Google Video Chat. (Might now be able to use iChat as well).

One hour or more, a day or several. I've hosted students for as many as 9 days. You choose. I'm looking forward to working with you.
