Florida Workshops and winter travel

Sunday, January 28, 2007

Hi Folks,

This has been a very busy winter. Since our trip to the Grand Canyon, we have been to California to do the Pasadena dance and see the music manufacturers' show. Next week finds us back in California for a San Diego workshop, dance and concert then up to Santa Cruz with Bob Carlin.

We will be traveling in and out of Yuma through mid March when we head east via Austin, TX  to Tampa Florida for The First Buzzard Bash. Weeklong workshop classes for banjo will start Monday April 2, 2007 and run through Friday April 6. The fiddle class will be the following week, April 9-13. The "Bash" ends with a house concert in Winter Haven on that Friday, April 13. Arrivals for camp begin on the Saturday before each camp and I am assured there is much time for jamming and visiting in the evenings. Location is Hudson, Florida (just north of Tampa) and class size is limited to 12 for each week. All levels are welcome. We will break the students up into beginner-intermediate and intermediate-advanced. There will be a morning and afternoon class of direct instruction for each level. Miss Jennifer will be available for coaching during the banjo week A dedicated web page is now up at http://mysite.verizon.net/resrxq3z/the2007buzzardbashinflorida. You can also contact Maeve DeHetre by e-mail at maeve27@verizon.net. BTW, registration are already coming in for this so you might want to start planning now.

Additional plans for that time in Florida are also coming together. Wayne Rogers of Gold Tone has agreed to host and provide instruments for a Meet the Banjo™ on Saturday March 31 at the Gold Tone Factory or their store in Titusville, FL (on the eastern side of Florida) as well as provide instruments for a Clawhammer Banjo From Scratch™ workshop (a great class for pre-beginners interested in their first introduction to Clawhammer Banjo or newbies planning to take the weeklong workshop also) at the Hudson (western FL) location on that same evening. A concert has also in the planned for Friday April 13. If you have any interest in helping set up or promote this or other events around that time in Florida or on route, let me know.

SO, as always, play nice!
Dan
