Wow thanks Mark...these are really cool!  I've just learned this tune.  It takes me about a day to learn a new song and get it down so that I have the whole fingering progression in my head.  Then I just need to build up speed and playing along with a backing track sure helps with that.  It's the next best thing to having a couple of jam partners.  I do have a friend who plays fiddle and her husband plays rhythm guitar (no breaks) but I usually only get together with them maybe once or twice per month at best.  This lets me practice every day.  I'm not at the speed with most of my picking so that I can keep up with a recording.  I've only been flatpicking since this past February.  Before that it was all fingerstyle guitar.

I have that same program and I really like using it.  If you take the time to edit the beginning and ending of a song file, you can play it as an endless loop without it missing a beat.  It does take some patience and some trial and error to get it to come out right though!

If I were you, I would contact Eric, the webmaster of the hangout, and see if he would create another section here maybe in with the tabs section to upload and post these backing tracks like we do our tabs!
He has done it with videos in the video section and the hangout jukebox for our mp3's. He just might consider it if we ask nicely!!

I have been using a few of them for my students!! I been wanting the BIAB bluegrass edition for a long time. Backing tracks fir my students is the main reason I wanted it. Thanks for all your hard work!

Mark, can you tell us what speed the slow, med, and normal speeds are?

Like slow = 50%

Med = 75%

normal = 100%

Also, do you know if the normal speed is the normal speed that the song is played in or is it just a random speed that was selected as just an average speed for most songs?

camping, you can go to Mark's Homepage banjohangout.org/my/Beckyboy, click on his music files, then right click on 'download', under the file you want to download, and in Firefox you select 'save link as', in IE it may be 'save file as'.  You can then name the files or leave the name as is.  I save them to their own folder and name them with the name of the song like "Eight of January" , Eight of January - Slow, etc.  I use copy and paste and then only have to add 'slow', or 'med'.  Hope this helps.

 Generally speaking most are as follows but it will be song dependant

Slow: 75 -80 bpm

Medium: 100 bmp

Normal: 120 - 130 bmp
