I don't pretend to know the minutiae of the balk, but in any event I missed ^^ .... have been otherwise occupied for a few days [festival / medical appointment / family visiting].   Maybe "they" should bring Tabby back on an "as needed basis" and have him babble his way through it.

Getting back to hockey... as expected, Connor Bedard was selected first in last night's NHL draft. He's described as a "generational talent."

He's plenty good, alright. But the last "generational talent" to enter the NHL was Connor McDavid, who was drafted in 2015. He's plenty good, too.

My conundrum rests in the fact that generations are widely accepted to be roughly 20 years. Nowadays, hockey players are apparently generational in only eight years.

I recognize that it's a fast-moving game, but I didn't realize top hockey players also reproduce a lot faster than the rest of us.

I guess it’s because a pro’s hockey life is roughly 18-20 years,, so I suppose a generation in that sense is ~5 years. Then again,, hype is the name of the game…. no pun intended

Is it news when something that everybody already knows pans out?   

And 'way more important than a balk is/was Domingo German's no-no last nite.   IMNSHumbleO, watching a no-hitter unfold is as good as watching the highlight clips of a pitcher making batter after batter look decidedly inept with a nasty/filthy/??? slider.  

Congrats to German… quite a curve ball he has.

Ours has/had a rubber band instead of what looks like players' benches on ^^ one.  

Ha,, we had that same edition of table top hockey. It only came with Habs & Leafs, so we sent away for Blackhawks players - to beat the stinkin’ Leafs.

This is the early one that we played - with a steel ball spring-fired from the slot at the side.

I've not seen one of that vintage, Paul.  It looks like maybe that's where the expression, "skating around like a bunch of pylons" originated.
