Interesting you say that, Skip. I was just watching a video where David Holt, who played and traveled with Doc Watson for many years, said “Doc, being a southern country boy, would get up early every day and I’d always wake up hearing him playing his guitar in the adjoining hotel room.”

Hate the state, love the team. I hope the kitties go all the way. Definitely not rooting for Lost Wages. I remember a stick to the face non-call two years ago. But Cinderella teams have a way of coming up just short. Do you think they have the stamina?

At least they're learning timing: Four overtimes in game 1, under 2 minutes of o.t. in game 2, regulation in game 3.

I'm kind of leaning towards Vegas, primarily because of Butchie. In retrospect the coaching change in Boston worked out well for both teams... but I still don't like the way Sweeney handled things.

Dunno why this appeared on my* Facebook feed today [i.e. 4 days after BNB posted it] .... :

"Bleacher Nation Blackhawks  Happy heavenly Blackhawks birthday to (still) the greatest to ever wear the Chicago sweater, Stan Mikita. Today would have been Stosh's 83rd birthday."

May be an image of 1 person and playing hockey

* = and, even though it's late, IF I got notified and you didn't Chuck, then we'll know that the world is indeed well-and-truly screwy.  cheeky

...and speaking of screwy, all we need tonight is Rays 20 / Jays 1.

Nope, wasn't in my feed,,go figger.
saw this one though, from Vintage St. Catharines FB group.  Marv spent time in the desert playing for the Phoenix Roadrunners in the old WPHL. My older brother Gary thought he was the best goalie he ever saw.

I don't think so.   To my mind 20-1 for the Jays one night and 20-1 for the Rays the following night would qualify as screwy.  YMMV.

... in any event it didn't pan out, so maybe things were only half screwy??

Manoah needs to spend some time in the minors,, he was brought up fast,, I think it’s caught up to him now. Even Roy Halladay went back down for a while.

The stars finally aligned right for the Stars. Good. That'll give the Kitties some r & r time prior to the finals. Bring on the rats!

After Marchessault's stick to Corey Perry's face (the infamous non-call), I sure hope Vegas loses - big time. (I have my doubts it will happen, though.)

This should be good - 2 teams with the right energy to run an opponent out of the rink on any given night. Panthers in 7

Another Memorial Cup is in the books... congrats to the Kwee-beck Remparts.  I watched parts of most games.... was a bit disappointed in the showing of the T'birds in the final.   Although it's hard to fathom, my retired farmer/teacher's impression was that a few* of the T'birds looked like they had prepared for a lesser opponent.    I had kinda expected [hoped??] that Milic would make up for any slack in front of him .... I dunno, maybe the whole team had that mindset????   Over all though, fast entertaining hockey.

* = in particular some of their "leaders," guys with some NHL experience, eg. Lambert, Guenther.... too many soft or ill-advised passes that got intercepted.

Afraid I haven’t followed junior hockey since I left St. Catharines for good around 1971. That was the year Dionne & LaFleur squared off for the final,, with all the Separatist brouhaha it was too dangerous for Dionne to play in Quebec.

... and the hits (?) just keep on coming!!   Another from Hockey Beast via Facebook:

"We've just found a rare photo from the last time the Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup ??"

May be an image of 17 people, people playing hockey and text that says 'HOCKEY BEAST'

Eight players from the ’67 Maple Leafs are still alive. The youngest is right wing Ron Ellis, who is 77 years old..

Dave Keon's sister, Pat, taught in the classroom next to mine. She knew a lot about the franchise. When Harold Ballard died, her comment was, "Now the real fighting starts." She was right.

She managed to get, and give me, a puck from the Habs-Flyers series in, I think, '89, from the Forum.

I sometimes wonder about the appropriateness of honourary degrees, but to me this achieves a new [at least new to me] low.   https://www.chch.com/former-nhl-player-76-receives-honorary-diploma-from-cathedral/?fbclid=IwAR3aVoQa9wAGIVvOYUXQkJazbZdpJ4ykHJ-z4QdV_-HNOAT-9fzk0upOCAA   Methinks he's just blowin' smoke when he says, "... he’s always regretted not getting his high school diploma."   I expect he just never had the opportunity to take the missing credits/courses.
