Where does, "If you've seen one, you've seen them all." fit in?  Most of the time I channel hop [combined with some banjo and some dozing off, checking the fridge, checking the temperature, etc., etc.] but by happenstance I caught [pun duly noted] the bottom of the ninth last nite.   I guess the last one in his string will be the reewee reewee noteworthy one.  ...do I hear 67?

On a tangentially related matter, I haven't heard our man Tabby lately.   Dunno how or why, but it kinda restores [a bit of] my faith in the guys that know what's best for us schmucks ... heck, I might even have to start checking into BooYay's telecasts a bit more.  [Go, Yankees!! Go!!]

"We were trying to teach this young player that the quality of ice time could be enhanced by the intensity and the vigorness of a shorter shift. [Laughter] As he came over and as time elapsed, the bench started to laugh. I said, 'He's going to try to climb in the box - don't let him climb in.' First, he tried to get in through the door and they wouldn't open the door. Then he tried to climb in and they said, 'Nyet. You're back out.' I don't pretend to understand facebook's algorithms (?), and I suppose it's because I clicked on something or other, but over the summer I got quite a few feeds (?) pointing out that Gordie Howe was a dirty player.   For the last month or so, close to zero.

This one appeared today from Wheel House Hockey with Alex Delvecchio's take on things:

“If you got Gordie really mad, he'd give you a little wood, but only if you got him mad. Yes, he was dirty, but in a clean sort of way.” 

I've heard the some of the stories about eastern European players are pretty funny.  I suppose this one [Mark Howe > The Hockey News > The Hockey Beast > my facebook feed] should qualify:

"We had a guy here in Philly named Miroslav Dvorak, from Czechoslovakia and he was a pretty funny guy. We had a game at the old Spectrum, he got the puck behind the net. He came out in front and I don’t know what he was doing, but he lost it. The other team got it and they almost scored. He came to the bench, coach Bob McCammon is screaming and yelling at him pretty good, which is understandable. His nickname was Cookie. He said, ’Cookie, what are you doing?’ And he looks at the coach and says, ’Dipsy-doodle good for fans.’ He came out with that line, everybody on the bench was laughing.”

Doug Harvey lived a couple of blocks over from us (nice house - he had a construction company). He spoke at some event at the college, soon after the big mega-trade designed to break up a potential players' union. He commented on Howe's dirty business. Two points: 1) Never let your guard down after the whistle if you were tangled up with him. He'd give you a shot. 2) If you hit him, he'd get you back. Even if he had to wait a period or two, he'd get you. For such a soft-spoken guy, he had quite the reputation as a dirty player.

....... and you'd think the Maple Laffs could come up with a sweater somewhat reminiscent of "real" Maple Leaf uniforms.  Kings 4 - Toronna 2  ...serves 'em right!!  

Naw, in Ontario a 3 hour drive is like a 10 hour drive out here in the west. My neck of the woods was called the Niagara Peninsula , Sarnia/Corunna, Windsor, London Tillsonburg! was Southwestern Ontario,,,, Wingham (one-time home of the CKNX Barn Dance) , Mount Forest, Owen Sound was Central Ontario,,, Trenton, Point Anne (boyhood home of a famous ex-TeePee Hull) Carp, Ottawa was Eastern Ontario,,, T’ronna area was Hogtown & Leaf country ,,, Barrie at one time was considered “up north”. Kenora was so far away it was almost considered Man-ee-toe-bah.
