This pic was taken at Shamattawa, MB [ask the all-knowing Google if need be]... Name and colours match up pretty well, so I take it the Habs are really beating the bushes in search of talent. (My frenchy is likely off ["les" to make it plural?], but if one is willing to overlook a minor detail....) 

So, if the 'Canes used a Zamboni driver, the Habs should get a chopper???

...as good a place to ask as any, I suppose:   I've noticed on a number of Blue Jay broadcasts this year [like tonight's f'rinstance] that both teams are wearing home* uniforms. What's with that?

* = dunno what the "rules" stipulate, but as far as I know, convention (?) has the home team jersey with the team name and the visitor with the city name.   ...or am I imagining things?

Today is Roberto Clemente Day. Of all the stars I followed in the 1960’s and ‘70’s he was of a different breed, so to speak. A black Hispanic guy from Puerto Rico who could play the game like no one else - hitting, running, catching, throwing. Gone way too soon.

I was visiting family down in the West Kootenays for a few days. Mount Fisher is visible from their front window on clear days (it finally did clear up Monday). That’s the peak that Scott Niedermayer is on in this photo , taken a number of years ago when New Jersey won the Cup.

What are the chances Mrs. Lindsay would have ixnayed* the parentheses in favour of:   "On Monday, during a short visit with family in B.C's West Kootenays,  it** finally cleared enough so we*** could see Mount Fisher from their front window." ?  

* = ditched....eschewed.... scrapped.

** = the weather.... the smog.... the clouds... whatever "it" was that cleared.

*** = I .... we.... they.... whoever could see "it" ..... i.e. "it" the mountain, not 'it" the condition that had just cleared up.

P.S. At Roblin Collegiate, almost 60 years ago, Mr. Ritchie often urged us to be "concise and precise."

I've had the TV on for parts of most games, but I can't say it really captivated my interest [although the roar of the crowd seemed to indicate that they were into it].  I suppose, once the Habs were out, my heart swung to the Islanders.... w/Ryan Pulock* being from Grandview. 

However, the timing was good.... Go Yankees Go!!

As far as I can unearth*, the three Staal brothers - Eric, Jordan, and Jared- are the only brothers to play on the same line. “Jared Staal not only made his NHL debut on the same team as two of his brothers Thursday, he started for the Carolina Hurricanes on the same forward line as Eric and Jordan”. A few years ago I went down to Oak River / Hamiota to watch the MB Sr. Baseball Tournament.   While shooting the breeze with a fellow, he mentioned that a few decades back he had coached the Oak River bantam team to the provincial championship.  The line-up, in fact the whole team, was 6 Geekies and 3 Paddocks [I think I've got that right, but it might be t'other way round].  Within each family all were brothers or first cousins.    

If I recall correctly, former Jets coach John Paddock was a player, and I see the Geekies are still at it... Morgan Geekie made his NHL deebut with the Hurricanes this year.

I  realize it's been a relatively short period of time, but I'm wondering if anybody else has noticed an improved social climate wrt diversity, inclusion, etc. since you-know-who departed?  ...or is it just me?         

Maybe ^^ will use a guitar emblazoned with "This machine surrounds hate, and ..... "  .... ah, you know the rest.    I dunno 'bout that sweater though.... it might have to go.

The winner is, "Every Stanley Cup winner should be required to have a parade down University Ave. in Toronto just to show Leaf fans what champions look like."

Yep... the goodle daze.... '57-'58ish.   That would be about the second season of my illustrious career ... trying  to learn to skate and play at the same time. Fwiw, back then, "Pie" McKenzie was one of the few non-Habs I took a liking-to. IF the stories about being an off-season rodeo rider are true, I wonder how many little pielets graced the landscape.

It’s a quizzical quandary in the greater St, Catharines region - I’ve asked my siblings , and got no mediocre expert answers. I’ve now seen the same question on the history of St. Cath.
