The Blue Jays had a great pitcher from my university, Jimmy Key.  I remember he once turned dow n a significant raise, I think with the Jays, because he thought he was already making enough.  In college, when he wasn't pitching, he played right field and was a terrific hitter batting .300 and making the All_ACC team as a pitcher and designated hitter.

Dittos Chuck ...... loved him too.  He was a real pitcher, sort of in the Greg Maddox mold ...... not overpowering, just knew how to pitch.

Golly! Things got busy around here yesterday afternoon. Jackie apologizes for showing up late.

So, obviously, I noticed that today is “NHL-games” deficient. But on Canadian Thanksgiving there ARE games. So I fumed a bit and found this…

Well then, it looks like it's a good thing I got one  period "in the bank"  yesterday.  

Typically my "hit the sack Jack" time is before the third period starts, but yesterday I watched the whole third period of 'abs 4 / Utah 3, sans snoozing and was able to fit in some TIMing during ads/stoppages.

Edit: And more importantly the end of tomatoes from the garden will be tomorrow.    Saved a couple or 3 to eat [with salt] and sliced/diced/froze the remaining dozen or so ... the late season ones don't ripen as well; texture a bit grainy (?) though the flavour is still there.  And now you know the rest of the story!!

I hate to be a semi-bearer of semi-bad news, but however much I like tomatoes I avoid them, along with the other nightshades. But, if you default to my “if you believe it you’ll realize it” slogan you should be ok… (believe they don’t harm you, that is).

Just got some blood tests back .... sodium mid-point in the "target range," where it's been for years, regardless of my sodium intake.  A couple of years back a doc said I "...didn't need to change a thing," w.r.t. my sodium intake.  So I took his advice.

Yep. ^^.  As I'm wont to do, I only watched snippets.   Checked in to find it was 2-0 in less than a minute* >> snoozed >> saw that dipsy-doodle and the empty netter.  But, but, but, how can Knight NOT be one of the game-stars?  [Maybe there had been some $$$ wagered??]

* and wondered whether or not I should post here, so you could look up the fastest two goals to start a game, and then clue me/us in.

[Back when I was trying to play ball, IF I was an infielder and their lead-off hitter got a hit, I would sometimes go to the pitcher and observe (?): "Well, there goes your no-hitter."   I'm not sure they really appreciated it, but otoh, they never gave me a shot to the chops.  ]

I groaned when it was 2-0 Ducks 46 seconds in,, then muddled around with some other things…. but I got to thinking “ what if they come back and tie it!” so I watched again & it was 3-0 ! Gadzooks… so I muddled some more,, then thought what if they,,, well, you know. So, obviously I watched the rest of the game.

p.s., back in the '60's , watching ((groan) Leaf games almost every Saturday, the 3 Star selectors (usually Leaf beat reporters) would often give the second star to the opposition goalie if the Laffs lost, implying that if it warn't fer him the Leafs woulda filled the net.

In the “Where Did They End Up?” dept. Harris was on the 1960 Memorial Cup winning TeePees… methinks he let himself go a bit after 25… Ended up playing for 10 teams , only a handful in the NHL.

I didn't watch any of the game; I don't know any of the specifics, but I did find bits of Knoblach's commentary interesting:  ".... we all saw what followed — the taunting, the smirks, the ridiculous .... "  and "... these blurry standards, these suspiciously delayed whistles, this growing tolerance for violent, undisciplined nonsense —."

I probably refer to the former as "running around like you own the place," though in my experience it typically comes from a team that gets a few goals up, so I dunno just how it came about in this instance.  And I guess the latter qualifies as pooh-pooh-worthy "intense critique of officialdom."      C'est la vie??

I dunno Chuck.... ya might be slippin'.  When I noticed that you'd posted I figured it was gonna be pointing out how well Bedard is doing.   The Knights/Hawks are on [in the background?] but I did  hear the experts say that Bedard was the best forward on the ice by a noticeable margin during the first period.   And as it's Hart's first game in ______________  .... maybe I should start actually watching it?? 

We didn't have a TV at home, but I watched the Fog Bowl at a friend's/neighbour's place.  

Yep, Torts (I call him that even tho he doesn’t know me from Adam) during minterission said he’s never seen him play better,,,but,,,, he hedges towards Celibrini…. well o’ course,, they’re both Italian!
