Dunno just where I heard it ..... I doubt it was presented as news on CBC/CTV/Global, so the prime suspects are either, a) whatever sports Westman Cable foists on me [i.e. Sportsnet, TSN, ???] or b) BHO. I'm guessing that the greater likelihood is that my reliable source was b). 
Here I was minding my own business watching the Blackhawks and who appears on my screen ? , , , none other than our own lovable Jackie ! (she wasn’t about to display her pigeon toes, though….)

And meantime, my beloved Bruins are on a tank-a-thon run for the ages. They now sit eighth out of eight in the Atlantic Division and sixteenth our of sixteen in the Eastern Conference - yes, even behind the lowly Buffalo Sabres.
In the entire NHL, only Nashville, Chicago and San Jose have lower point totals.
All of which nearly guarantees a top-five draft pick in late June - unless they REALLY screw up and start winning. Which they might do. Because they're hockey players.
Well, I can relate,, the usual scenario played out again last evening,, good team comes to Chicago,, lollygags for 30 minutes,, realizes they’re behind and time is moving on so they wake up and pour it on,, tie the game in the dying minutes and win in a shootout.
I notice Bedard is doing the McDavid thing lately,, no smiles after a Blackhawk goal,, cellies with teammates seems only obligatory for him without enthusiasm….

I can't say that I blame the kid. Here he is, more or less a generational talent with all kinds of hype surrounding him coming in, and the Blackhawks are a woeful team with a brilliant young kid trying to carry them along. Other than Bedard, they really don't have any "Holy $#!+" players, and their prospect pool is shallow - their AHL affiliate (Rockford Ice Hogs) shows little depth or signs of getting there.
Compare and contrast with San Jose, who picked up the other recent "generational talent" in Macklin Celebrini this year. San Jose in the only team in the NHL with a worse record than the Blackhawks, but the hockey pundits agree that there's a ton of talent coming up and the Sharks are expected to start making waves next year or the year after. Bedard has to be aware of this.

Well, the Blackhawks iced a handful of players under the age of 21 last night. I’m impressed with Nazar,, he’s quick, smart, and shifty with mucho enthusiasm.
I’m thinking, like McDavid a few years ago, that he’s got all the fans’ hopes on his shoulders , the kid is only 19. Media hypes this stuff up so much these days that these kids feel they are under huge pressure,, imho

^^^ Looks like the old OHA Intermediate leagues that I played in one year (Simcoe Chiefs) are long gone,, now they have Allan Cup contenders and a AA division. St. Catharines didn’t have a Senior team back in my day, but my sister and BIL regularly attended Galt Hornets games in the 1970’s. Rick Vaive played for the senior Dundas Merchants after his NHL career.

Fwiw, when I look at such comparisons I like generally like to check per game ratios, so long as there's a sufficient sample size. I've looked it up before, but I think* their goals per game are almost the same.
* i.e. in one ear and out the other.
Methinks Ovechkin’s size helped him a lot,, Wayne was a skinny guy,, but, but,, he had big Semenko and McSorley guaranteeing him lots of room. Gretzky had a higher hockey IQ, imo.

Another quotient is (like bayzbal pitchers and their wins) how many goals against weak teams vs. strong teams? Fill the net against cellar-dwellers and be invisible when playing .600+ teams.
My limited understanding of stats is that "sufficient sample size" should largely counter that.
For a significant part of Gretzky's career most of the other teams were "weak(er)" teams, no? [Just a week or two back I wondered aloud (i.e to my mostly disinterested wife) how many goals Ovechkin might have scored had he been playing on a team like the Oilers in their heyday. ... minimum an additional 15%?]
