Only a guess ... and probably a poor one at that ...  of the four guys close(r) to the camera, the guy on the right looks like Willie O'Ree.  The top half of the head [eyes/hair/??] of the guy next to him reminds me of Mario Tremblay.   Will you be delivering my see-gar, or do I hafta pick it up "west of The Hat"?

No exploding see-gar, by gar, for you. These are baseball guys,, the Canuck is from Maple Ridge, BC. The others from the 11th province… the guy holding the glass o’ wine’s initials are FT,, big slugger. Keep guessing....

Ok, how ‘bout this guy?

Too easy.... but a cousin of ^^ was a team mate of mine in minor hockey [such as it was in Togo, SK.]. He was a pretty decent player [and also a pretty good biesbol pitcher], but I don't think he tried to go any further.   Haven't seen him since school, but I think he became a banker.

Well, I suspect most of the good burghers of Togo are so tech-saavy that they do it online. 

Fwiw, a credit union operated until 15 or so years ago, but it's about 30 km. to Roblin, MB in one direction; same distance to Kamsack, SK in t'other, and about an hour from Yorkton.     Dunno if "banker" might be kinda overstating it; I think he was a bank manager ...... at least part of hie career somewhere in N.W.Ont. (??)  IIRC; maybe even where you wowed 'em in senior 'ockey.

The only guy I remember that was a Man-ee-toe-bah refugee in Red Lake was a team mate from who hailed from Dauphin,, ex-MB junior leaguer. His name escapes me,, but I do recall he worked at the Dickenson gold mine, while I was a hungover trammer and driller in the Campbell Red Lake mine.

NCAA tournament starts today. SIX of the sixteen teams are from Hockey East, and I've seen several projections suggesting that Maine could take the whole thing.

That would be lots of fun for me, as an ex-Mainer, who is watching his Boston Bruins doing everything they can to secure a really good first-round draft pick position.

In other news, John Tortorella was just sacked by the Flyers.

I would NOT mind seeing him behind the Boston Bench. At least the post-game pressers would be entertaining...

I'll admit that I don't mucho follow such things [i.e. no specific examples off the top of my head], but Tortorella strikes me as being the type that would be absolutely brilliant if he was a fraction as good as he thinks he is.   [ .... not that interviewers/writers being periodically reminded that they sometimes also aren't as brilliant as they apparently think they are isn't justified (?), but ..........  .]  

Thanks for the reminder Skip ... just a bit ago, I mentioned to my wife that from today on we (i.e "I") should be able to get a ball game every day 'til November. She questioned how I was gonna fit "everything" in ['ockey, March Madness and now biesbol] .... I reminded her that she left out snoozing and TIMing .... NCAA hockey didn't register at that moment.

Random thoughts, tonight's action:

1) Marchand is playing exactly the way Marchand plays: blazingly fast, scrappy, and with ruthless joy. It doesn't matter to him what color his sweater is. He fits right in with the Panthers.

2) Speaking of sweaters, the Carolina variant with the tattered double storm-warning flags hanging off of a hockey stick HAS to be the coolest logo in the NHL. And I say this with reverence for the Original Six colors. Try to convince me that I'm wrong.

3) The Cup going back to Canuckistan is overdue. And if any team both deserves it and can make it happen, it's Winnipeg. Dang, but that's a talented and well-balanced team!

Saw that earlier today. Kudos to whoever came up with the idea, and my condolences to the poor bastitches who had to wear it. Hope they've got a sense of humor.

Can’t say which sweater/joisey is the best, but I always like seeing the Whale tail in Raleigh,,, and the stylized whale head integrated with a hockey stick on the original Canucks sweaters. The simple, elegant crests of the original 6 are striking, but methinks some of that is nostalgic to me.
(much like the TeePees unis of the hometown junior team of the 1950’s-1962,,, someday I'll tell you guys about the TeePees....)
