Naw,, status quo not to my liking. I like baseball,, guys talk jovially at first base,, stuff like that. Some hothead outliers but not much. It’s all dull & harmless….err, did I say dull?

That might be a rhetorical question, but anyway, I have no inside knowledge of what led up to that brouhaha,, I figure it was Nolan trying to intimidate Ventura with high inside heaters over a number of games with Ventura throwing caution to the wind and rushing the mound….oops,, my head hurts…

I always thought it was Claude Provost who, at a face-off asked Hull: "Baw-bee, 'ow come dey hallways sen' you hout to check me?"   but just now tried to look it up and apparently it was Ron Stewart [as a Ranger after his time with the Maple Laffs] who said: "Bobby, how come they always send you out to check me?"

Hull once gave Beliveau a bit of a spear…. a minute later the classy Beliveau said to him waiting for a face off, “Bobby, I’m very disappointed in you.”

.... and maybe it even extends to some fans. Just now, on the Jet-Ducks broadcast, the camera panned, and Kevin Sawyer mentioned/acknowledged a friend of his who rounds up about 50 like-minded friends, and attends Ducks at Wpg. games decked out in camo and armed with duck calls.  

Well, far be it from me restrict a bunch of tough-looking guys crossing the border into Canada wearing camo….

Vocabulary aside, does the idea have merit?

When somebody on the radio uses a more-than-two-syllable word that you don't necessarily hear every day, I'll sometimes comment to my       v-e-r-y patient/understanding wife: "(insert word here) ?!?! ... Where's Don Cherry when you need him?" 

I just don’t like the guy,,, period. But there’s probably a lot of truth to what he’s saying,, I haven’t been following Hockey Canada closely.

Now I'm kinda wondering how many, if any, of the after-the-fact experts were experts before-the-fact.   That would indicate some real understanding.

Seems as though my Habs have been hitting the net lately. Two losses on the road trip, and the second was with Laine out of the lineup. Beating the high-placed teams. Could one player have that much impact on team chemistry? Could the new goalie have something to do with it? I await Chuck's expertise (not sarcasm, it's good to have input from someone with more in-depth knowledge).

(It's interesting to see how one player can stand in his "office", waiting for the pass, and be forgotten by everyone on the opposing team.)

I wasn’t aware of any expertise on my part,, I don’t follow the in-depth analyses of the teams,, too busy with TIM’ng. However, I did see the highlights of my Blackhawks edging out the Habs to put an end to their 5-game skid.
Why office guys like Drycycle and the Russian dog Ovie are allowed to stand for 5+ seconds stick ready is one of those mysteries,,,,, could be the Gretzky haters let them so’ll they’ll break his records…..

In other Norting Spews, the New England Patriots sacked first-year head coach Jerrod Mayo yesterday. Mayo was a superb and beloved player for the Pats, coached the linebackers for the past five years, and was told two years ago that he would work under Belichick for two years and then become head coach.

Of course, Belichick was defenestrated a year earlier than planned, and Mayo was elevated well before he was ready for the HC job. Intentionally or otherwise, he was set up to fail.

Of course, the final insult was that the Patriots actually WON yesterday (by beating what was essentially Buffalo's practice squad). And in so doing, they moved themselves out of position to claim the #1 pick in the next draft.
