What about him?

Only Buffalo, San Jose and Chicago have a worse record this year than the Islanders. So yeah, I'd call that pathetic. laugh

Presumably. There have been no proven cases of spontaneous human combustion.

Unless you count this, of course.

No 'ockey on Westman cable at all tonight ... not even a late [9:00] game or one listed as "Blackout In Effect."  So I it's a combo ... NCAA Div. II (?) foosball, with sound "off" / some bluegrass on Youtube, with sound "on" / some TIMing / some dozing off ... and IF things go according to Hoyle, I'm in charge of evening tea-and-cookie time.   Excitement comin' out the wazoo here in chilly [-30 Celsius] Man-ee-toe-bah I tell ya, but somehow we manage.  yes

Another reason your fair land should switch to Farenheit. -30C is only -22F. I'm certain you'd agree that -22 sound much better than -30. wink

Nah Skip, remember... we've been there, done that.

Actually the 8 degree diff is mostly in how it "sounds."*  The activities don't change all that much ... when it's colder than -20 C. the main factor is the wind .... and it doesn't take much.

The fans at ^^ game in Frisco, TX last nite were bundled up pretty good considering it was 30 above.  But from what I saw, it was a fairly entertaining game.

* Woohoo! it's already -25 this a.m. .... it dunno how it sounds, but thru the window it "looks" like I might go out to the shop today.

It may amuse my neighbors to the north to learn that as Edmonton out-skated, out-shot, out-thought and all around out-played my beloved Bruins last night, there were chants of "Fire Sweeney!" ringing out in TD Gahden.

This city loves its hockey. But its patience is limited.

... is my man Geekie [from down the highway an hour in t'other direction] part of the problem, or part of the solution?    devil

.... Hellebuyck was winning his 300th. on another channel, so, as is typical, I "watched" (?) bits-and-pieces.

Your man Geekie is most assuredly NOT part of the problem. Nobody ever expected him to be a superstar, and he's not, but he's solid, dependable and steady. Tied for 6th overall in points. Keeps his nose clean with minimal time in the bin.

No, the underperformance has come from players we would expect to get more from.

Thanks Skip, that's a relief!   You see, one of his grannies lives here in town, and my wife is a bit of a friend ... I'd hate to have to use this a conduit to relay less-than-good news.  wink

I’m more and more impressed with Quinn Hughes lately,, just saw him lead a rush up the ice & creating a good scoring chance,, then he hustles back as the Caps were attacking and intercepts a pass in front of his net, and passes up ice to one of his forwards,,,, very Orr-like.

There are certain family names in hockey in which, when you hear one of your rivals snagged one, you tremble. Tkachuk is one of them. Hughes is another.

More St. Catharines hockey lore….
“ The Maple Leafs wanted to relocate the team closer to Toronto, with both St. Catharines and Niagara Falls in Ontario potential destinations for the franchise.[12][15][19] When MLGL applied to the AHL to relocate the New Brunswick Hawks to St. Catharines, the nearby Buffalo Sabres initially blocked the move due to objections to a team moving into their territory without prior discussions with them.[13][20][21][22][23][24] However, following protests by fans in St. Catharines[25] and threats by Ballard to suspend the Moncton franchise to prevent another AHL team from playing in the city[13] and to sue the Sabres and NHL for $20 million,[22][23] the relocation was approved unanimously and the franchise became the St. Catharines Saints, serving as the Maple Leafs' primary affiliate.”

p.s., Rudy Pilous, GM , after many months of poor attendance told a reporter, "If Jesus Christ himself walked down the main drag of this town on Palm Sunday he wouldn't attract a fly!"

Would quoting the headline
"TOODLOO to TRUDEAU"
be a violation of the "No Politics" rule, or just silly?

Well, I had a post deemed political because, as an afterthought (?) in the linked article, Justine had opined that an on-the-surface misuse of police resources should be investigated.  His name appearing in print made it a no-no. So, your guess is probably better than mine.

Thanks for the heads-up.  Alas, it appears I'll have no reason to pay any more (in)attention than usual.

Westman lists Buffalo @ Ottawa (no); Edmonton @ Pittsburgh (no); and the pathetic Islanders at Las Vegas (no).

But, but, but, although all hope is not lost, it is fading... they also list "Blackout in Effect (2013)" ... that sometimes turns into a game ... but I see the Maple Laffs are in Carolina.

And, fwiw, the Orange Bowl is on, so I guess I'll make do.

KHL roolz is different, it would seem. One does wonder, however, what was last accessed on that phone.
