You have no idea. Many of us were dreading this tilt. You can keep your Habs, your Laffs - you can keep the rest of the Original Six and all those marginal markets north of 54'40 and west of the Mississippi River - or whatever flows north of it in Yon Frozen North. It goes without saying that the Panthers have been a particular thorn in our side for the past three years. I look at Tkachuk the same way the rest of North America looks at Brad Marchand: the only thing better than seeing him dead would be seeing him wearing the Spoked B.

Boston looked awful in the first period, and I thought they were on their way to another well-deserved loss. Second period, they started to show signs of life. Third period they started looking good - though gassed towards the end - and  the Florida fluke goal with seconds left caused my dogs great distress due to the vehemence and sound pressure of my four-letter expletive.

That was a fluke goal. So I view the fact that the B's got two points on an equally-fluke-goal with seconds left in overtime as nothing less than poetry.

There is such a thing as puclk luck. And though I think Sweeney should move on to his next career as owner of a car dealership, I'm willing to let him live another day.

Nothing lasts forever, of course - especially when you're up against a machine as brilliant as the Oilers. But I have a feeling Chicago is going to be a real threat in a few years.

'abs and Jets were both on* .... as well as allow time for some TIMing and catching a few winks here and there.

Okay, so they're cousins. Even better, they're not of a surname that causes one to gnash teeth and rend garments when your arch-rival drafts or deals for one of them.

To your questions: yes, Swayman has been playing very well of late, though he was a late bloomer this year - and in light of the fact that the handsomely-paid Tristan Jarry (US$5.375mm AAV) was just waived by Pittsburgh and will likely end up in the AHL (who's gonna claim him?) serves as a cautionary tale. It would help if the talent in front of Swayman would tickle twine more often - the Good Lord knows they're capable of doing so.

But goalies can only save games. They almost never win them. 99.999% of the time, it's the skaters who score the GWGs.

And if the bad blood in the locker room is still there, we'll never know. There was a kerfuffle in Beantown last week when a local sports talker scooped major friction between Marchand and Pastrnak.

Marchand is the Captain. Pasta is a sniper who, despite his point total, also makes really dumb turnovers. By all reasonable accounts, they're very good friends. But the Captain would NOT be doing his job if he didn't privately call out Pasta for coughing up a puck that helped lead to a bad loss - and not for the first time Even so, Marchand vehemently stood up for his teammate. As a Captain should.  One presumes that the last person he'd throw under the bus is his #1 goalie.

Pretty amazing that Connor McJeezis is going to have a Player Safety hearing for a particularly nasty late-game cross-check to the head. McDavid's not a stranger to the sin bin but generally keeps his nose clean. He doesn't need to be a jerk - he's so freaking talented that he does just fine letting his skates and shot do the talking. Of all the players currently in the NHL, he's definitely on my short list for most respected. This one just isn't his style.

By preceding I had in mind some other juncture of the game.

And furthermore and moreover, an appropriate response to a face wash* is a chop to the mush, so might as well just by-pass the intermediate step. 

* ditto for grabbing another player around the neck while looking away.  If the grabber actually is disinterested he needn't bother with grabbing on in the first place.
