Well, it’s a moot point now what with the Tigers blasting a 3 run homer in the top of the 9th,,, at the time it was crucial

With the benefit of replays and slo-mo [but not expert (?) analysis] I call good catch!!   ... or at least insufficient to overturn the call!!   Btw ... what was the on-field call??   wink   [Go Yankees, Go!!]

The call on the field was a good catch,, review didn't overturn it.
Da bum wuz OUT !

"When Yogi Berra would run into Rachel Robinson — and this was true pretty much to the end of Yogi's life — they would always exchange two words. “Safe,” Rachel would say. “Out,” Yogi would say. And then the two would smile and they would embrace."

Skip, have you considered fixing that ^^ with cataract surgery?

If it pans out like  mine then you won't be able to tell whether it's the pic, or an inability of optometrists to get it right, or your brain. My surgeon told me that having two images .... one from each eye ... is not uncommon shortly after surgery, but that the brain usually "adjusts" within a few weeks.  Five-ish years on and apparently mine still hasn't fully adjusted.   wink

The floaters move around like swarms of gnats or “no-see-ims”.
Betwixt the floaters I see a fairly focused Damsel from the hog town boroughs

They are blurry,, they move too fast to really be able to tell.

Meanwhile, in Queen’s, share.icloud.com/photos/071JK8...PGsBuJ3kw

Waddya think? Catch or boot?  Call on the field was booted ball.

... he caught it and bungled the transfer.  Since the runner had waited for the ump to signal ...... .

[Good thing the rules of baseball allow the umps to conjure up a rule to cover something not specifically covered .... at least I think that's the way it used to be.]

In the end, I think they got it "right" ... all things considered.

Edit: There must be some performance NON-enhancing stuff that would slow the floaters down a bit??  devil

.... and furthermore Machado should have been OUT for veering over onto the grass to get in the way of Freeman's throw to second!!   But apparently not "should have" according to the current rules.  Can't go off the base path to avoid a tag, so why should this be that much different?   Tantamount to a [foosball] defensive back, while not seeing the ball coming, putting his hand in front of the eyes of the receiver.  A b.s. rule that should be changed, IMNSHumbleO.    [Aren't you glad you asked?  wink ]

Right-o,, just like the rool running to first in the proper lane when there’s a bunt the catcher gets.

& then there's the so-called "pick" in hockey,, interference, imo

.... just tuned in in time to see the review [cough, hack, cough] of Stanton's fly ball down the right foul line.  The video along the line from the foul pole toward home clearly shows the ball hitting the line [i.e. fair ball] but the command center apparently didn't see evidence that was conclusive enough yada, yada, yada.    IF "clearly" isn't conclusive enuff, then what's the point??

Failing memory is my near-constant companion.  I can remember stuff like red/pink shirt fiascos in Stony Plain, but not who won the Tigers/Indians game earlier today.
- as to the check-swing-Judge-called-out fiasco,, bring on the electronic umps or at least a review

I knew Freeman, tonight’s walk-off homer hero, played for Canada in world competition but didn’t know exactly why, so I found this…
