Last night I went over to John Coleman's ( mainejohn) house to hang out for a little while and play a little banjo. I have not played with him much latly due to my RA bothering me so much at the end of the summer. I ahve been playing at home for the last two months as I am on new medication and starting to feel a little better.
Well, I think John was happy to hear my improvement. We were able to play 4 or 5 songs together all the way through and it actually started to sound like we were making some music. Even his two daughters said we sounded "good" ( John did a very good job raising them and maybe they were just being polite).
It is great to hear some encouragment from other people, especially someone like John. John was the first person I met here on the hangout and he introduced me to true "banjo music" ( whatever the hell that is). He has helped me out a great deal along the way and a great friendship has developed because of the banjo and of course the "hangout". I just wanted to come home from his house and play my banjo and learn some new songs!
I may even go ahead and upgrade my experience level from "Just Startin'" to "Novice".
Of course, thank you to everyone else on the hangout that has helped me along the way as well. My questions are always answered quickly and with so much knowledge, things that would have taken years to figure out on my own.

LIve in the beautiful state of Maine with my wife of 18 years and a house full of animals. Grew up in a home with lots of music. Dad plays guitar, banjo, and dulcimer. Both brothers play guitar. I played piano for years as a kid but of course did not stick with it. Am in the process of learning clawhammer. Would love to just hang out and jam, nothing too serious.
