Happy Birthday, Liz!
Late lunch / early dinner.
Baked bread this morning. Made another batch of sautéed onion, green beans, and tomatos with a bit of olive oil, salt, and garam masala.
Beans and tomatos are homegrown. Forgot to add homegrown garlic.
Summertime, and the food is good...

The smoked and dehydrated peppers were ground this morning, so I gots me some paprika. When I put the chips in the coffee grinder the smell made me think it would be too hot, but when I was done grinding I tried a couple of pinches and it seems fine. I used a combination of sweet bell, leutschauer (classic paprika pepper, somewhat hot), and maybe a few unidentified peppers, and it came out smoky with a good blend of sweetness and heat. The peppers were various shades of red and yellow, so the paprika came out orange. I think this is enough for a couple of years, so I plan to give some away.
Thank goodness I buy my coffee pre-ground these days. Even after a good washing I might end up with some unusual tasting coffee if I ground my own beans.

Tariffs probably make it too expensive.![]()
Paprika , Chili powder and Garam Masala are blends that vary so much and each region has its own. Making your own paprika is pretty cool!!!
Having a separate grinder for spices is a must if you’re going to do it. I remember having to explain to my mom why her coffee grinder smelled like a skunk , and ended up buying her a new one!!! Sorry Ma !!!
Slammer!!!

Skunk meat goes in the manual meat grinder that clamps onto the table, not the electric coffee grinder that sits on the counter. ![]()

Hmmm, since you get the old original Dixie beer anymore, a PBR, would have made a fine substitute. I have not pigged out on a platter of mud bugs in too long. There is a new joint in town, I hear has some decent Cajun and Creole foods. I will wait till my gut heals to go. :-(. Brad
