When they talk about “Food Porn” I now know why. My son and I grilled a whole Beef Tenderloin for my 89 yr old mother as we were all staying with her and she bought the Tenderloin. Didn’t have butcher twine so toothpicks were used. We were just happy nobody choked on it!!! Never seen a more phallic piece of meat……..from the grill. I took the leftovers home and made Hash!!!

Simple dinner for us on Saturday evening. Leftover Waldorf salad, Marilyn made our favorite cucumber salad, and I did a “smoke-roast” batch of chicken thighs. I loaded the smoke box, got the grill up to 400*F and when the chips started smoking I put in the seasoned bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs on the cool side about 35-40 min. Brad

Right here. Right now.
We have been eating our share. Short drive to the sweet corn stand and while there pick up a melon or some green beans etc. Brad

The early corn at the stand was good, not great like most times, I hope some farms that may yet to get to market might be better?

I've noticed that as well. My son put some corn in his garden this year. Coming up like gangbusters. It'll be nice to get some home grown.
For tonight, pork chops, long runners (green beans from the garden), baked potatoes and skillet corn bread.

Ok, so I attempted to recreate a dish from our favorite Italian restaurant, now sadly defunct. When we went there, Al ALWAYS ordered the hanger steak with gorgonzola sauce, which came with mashed potatoes and a side (pasta, veg, whatever.)
He told me he thought there were mushrooms in it. I'm not so sure, but that sounded good, so I went with it. I sauteed up a package of wild mushrooms and some red onion in lots of butter, and deglazed it with red wine. Then I added beef stock made from "Better Than Bullion" and water. Let that reduce for a while, then added in some leftover blue cheese crumbles and allowed them to melt.
That thickened the sauce.
And that was basically it--we grilled some sirloin tips over charcoal and served the sauce with them and mashed red potatoes. A little salad of cherry tomatoes and olives on the side.
We spent the afternoon in Lake Michigan trying to cool off. Can’t remember the water being this warm ever and not as refreshing as usual.
I cheated tonight and got a Domino’s $9.99 special. Sausage, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, black olives and bacon on half on New York style crust. Great deal and was very tasty, can’t beat it!!!

What’s for Dessert…
About a quart or so of milk was just having signs of spoiling. This time to avoid tossing it, I made chocolate pudding from scratch, using Marilyn’s special cocoa powder. I make yogurt throughout the winter, but I have not made pudding since the kids moved out-years ago.
What do you do to avoid wasting milk. We always buy whole milk, so it opens many options. Brad
