Too hot to cook outdoors. Marilyn threw together a shrimp salad that freed space in the fridge and the pantry. I went to our nearby Braum’s and bought a pint of chocolate mint ice cream for later. Brad

Brad, would you rent me some of that free pantry and fridge space. The whole family is coming home for a week ( son and daughter, spouses, and 4 grandsons) and our pantries are overflowing, fridge is bursting, camper fridge is full, and have to sit on the freezer to shut it !!! If anyone goes hungry, it’s their own damn fault. I’ve already gained 10 pounds just looking at all of it.

Sounds to me that you need to go fishing. Tell the family, you are just trying to put food on the table for the family.  Brad

On my trip home, from a fer piece down the road, I stopped at my favorite place for breakfast in Kansas. Meridy’s. In Russell along I70. This time I politely asked for only one biscuit. Brad

That’s my kind of breakfast!!!

Finally hade the opportunity to try the infamous Brown Bread in a can.
Well, it wasn’t terrible and toasted it and had butter and cream cheese on it.
First bite lasted a long time. So did the 2nd bite. It would be great for a bomb shelter pantry. If the bombs didn’t work , you could throw this at em!!!
My curiosity is no more!!!

No plans or ideas for dinner and Mrs. Slammer pulled this idea out of her hat and I executed it !!! I hate boneless skinless chicken breasts and this is one of very few ways I’ll eat them. Chili , lime and garlic marinade , finished with a drizzle of hot honey!!! Great summer meal!!!

Slammer, Since you like the cheese and onion thing, etc.  I think its time you make a fave of ours that we ate a lot of in Saarland and Alsace areas.  Depending the region, it is called a "Tarte Flambe'" or a "Flammekueche."  Google for genuine recipes...

Its a rectangle (or oval) thin pizza dough, schmeared with creme' fraiche or fromage blanc (locally if have to sour cream), smothered with fine slivers of onion, and sprinkled with chopped pancetta or bacon, etc, and bake.  See authentic recipes for a good eat and options.

Christ on ice skates Brad , that sounds like it could be a new “favorite” of mine. Nothing I don’t like about that at all. I saw it made on TV once but forgot completely about it and now it’s back on my radar………Thanks. We just started getting Vidalia’s in the store this week. Love my onions!!!

Was a perfect day weather wise today and not too hot to cook inside.
Linguine with garlic shrimp alla Vodka sauce was tonight’s special with a side of green beans. So damn good and so easy. Takes longer to bring the water to a boil than it does to whip up the whole meal!!!

You just reminded me of a pound of local farm grown green beans I bought.  So, I am wondering...you put the beans in the side of the bowl with the linguine.  Did you eat them separately, or do they end up getting mixed with the pasta?  Brad
