I first thought that to be the case, but on replay I see Copp #17 was one of the initial pair at center ice, but with some diligent backchecking he was also one of the group of three inside the blue line.  .... so McD only went through 4 guys!!

My grandson Ollie played in a tournament in Invermere, BC today,, awarded the “Heart & Hustle” helmet,, and scored a goal.

Yep... pretty good poke checks, although my initial reaction was "Wade who?"  I admit W.D. flew completely under my radar... or maybe my radar was in the shop getting calibrated on those days.  Hockeydb.com says he had an NHL save %age of .914 .... Carey Price's is .917.  Go figure.

I've heard of a few kids tournaments being canceled recently in MB... I guess being called selfish, irresponsible idiots is/was just what the doctor ordered [pun ? intended].

... Jets-Penguins game on now.  Greg Millen just mentioned Hellebuyck making a "couple of ten bellers."   I think I've heard mention of that phrase before, but for the life of me I can't put my finger on it.

Millen being a tad young to garner a Stimers’ “15 bell save”, Bill Bird took over from Rex in the oily '70's. 

Well, I'm sure it was Pilous, but I can't see why. It just sounded childish.

Bill Bird is the brother of Golden Gloves champ George Bird. More name-dropping - I went to the old wind tunnel Exhibition Stadium to watch a Blue Jays game back in the oily ‘80’s. Bird, who was then with glowball news & sports, was standing at the press door waiting to get in. I said “Hey, St. Catharines” and he looked up and replied, “Hi, how’re you doing.” I kept going with a smile since I was the besotted one at that time.
Last I heard of Bill he was reading the news on CBC radio.

Name drop, hockey? Pat Keon was on my teaching team - sister of Dave, notably an ex Leaf. She was generous to a fault. It got so I wouldn't go to lunch if she was going because she'd pay for everyone. She retired in '97. She'd visit the school after that and always brought something to the staffroom. She passed in '99.

At her retirement function I met Dave (I think I'dmet him previously) and Dick Duff at the same time. I was stuck for words, finally said to Duff, "I grew up in Montreal." He replied, "The real hockey!"

Big deal…I got Bobby Hull’s autograph , and lightly touched Earl Scruggs on the shoulder with my picking hand....& oh yeah, almost forgot,, I chatted with Fergie Jenkins at the Cubs training camp in Tempe, Arizona ,, we talked hockey and Derek Sanderson news.  

Big deal. I had dinner with John Prine.

John Turner flipped me a toonie when I was busking at the Queen St. subway station. Told me to keep playing,,,,, not sure if he meant I needed more practice,,, hmmmm

John Turner was the guest speaker at my university graduation. I was on crutches after my motorbike had been hit by a car (heading home after seeing Gordon Lightfoot at Expo 67), and had to negotiate the steps down after getting the sheepskin. Afterward he stopped to tell me, "We were worried about you." (He didn't give me any money, though.)

And I saw John and Yoko at the Montreal airport in '69 when they came for their bed-in
