I'd heard some of that on one of our networks, so I figure it's likely authentic .... but in addition to my propensity to snooze/turn away from bad ads/TIM/etc. it was golf.

Interestingly (?) when I heard "toxic environment" ^^,  I was reminded of our most recent glamping escapade. We met a dude who had recently become a dual citizen and was passing through ... enroute to Alaska  ... having " had it with the lower 48."   And even more interestingly I asked him about my perceptions/stereotyping/possible misconceptions/?? of the USofA and [some] 'Muricans, and he said I was spot on.  Now I'm sure some others would say I'm off by about 180 degrees, but .... c'est la vie??

There’s maybe a lot of chirping, gamesmanship, trash-talking going on. As Harry the Neale once said, “Go right to the net and arrive in foul humour”.

That's like the Flyers' Fred Shero coached his players - get to the puck first and in a bad mood. It worked for two seasons, and then ... ( the guys from Montreal in the red, white, and blue sweaters showed them a better way).

An excellent evening. Bruins won - obviously still work to do, and there's a clear lack of shooting talent beyond the first line. But the special teams work was solid and the goaltending was excellent.

And the Blue Jays won. Now, that's obviously an important and Big Deal to my friends in Yon Frozen North. May they continue their march and complete the task ahead. But much more important to us Noo Winglanders is who they beat in order to advance.

Even as a proudly lapsed Red Sox fan who still finds it difficult to trust (or respect) the FSG, there's enough history that I still find the taste of Yankee tears invigorating.

What's FSG? ... I tried acronym finder, but nothing sounds right.

I may have posted this before: Chelios >> Spittin' Chicklets >> Hockey Beast >> Facebook >> BHO:

"He (Mike Babcock) tried to healthy scratched me in the outdoor game in Wrigley Field against Chicago because he knew it was my hometown. Just things that were so unnecessary. Kenny Holland and Jim Nill for three days argued with him.

So what Babs ended up doing was he suited up 7 D for the first time ever, first and last time. He suited up 7 D, put Anders Lilja in the lineup. And played me opening shift and then didn’t play me another shift the rest of the game. That was his way of, you know, showing Kenny and now Jim Nill, he’s not going to be told what to do.

Again, and you know it’s funny. I’m sitting there. Second period and my two sons were about 40 feet, you know, sittin on the boards and they’re looking at me going, what’s going on? And I look at them. I tip my glass like you know my cup, to get me a beer. So my two boys were handing me beers the whole game. And then McCrimmon tried to get me to go out there with a minute left to kill a penalty, I said not a chance."

Fenway Sports Group. Owners of the Red Sox, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Premier League's Liverpool FC, NASCAR's RFK Racing and TMRW Golf's Boston Common team. They also own 80% of NESN (New England Sports Network, which they haven't upfucculated too badly).

How’s’bout that - da Broons + Blackhawks are on Sportsnet tonight, without having to be a “premium” member,,, harumph. When I first subscribed 4 years ago I got over half the l’ockey games daily,,, now it’s down to 2 or 3. So FSG is helping today - I notice I get the Penguins games also. Most Calgary and Edmonchuk games,, some Maple Laffs,, rarely MoanRayAll.

So, obviously, a kid named Fraser (what else) from Vancouver (hard by the Fraser River) scores in overtime to beat his former teammate Bedard.
On the upside, the Blackhawks are playing competitive hockey as they did in their previous game against Florida.
“ Minten was born in Vancouver, British Columbia to parents Chantal and Trevor Minten. Growing up, Minten enjoyed reading and playing the piano, influenced by his grandparents, with whom he traveled during the summer months.[1]

Playing career
Junior
Minten joined West Van Academy Prep where he played with Connor Bedard.”

In aother painful entry in the annals of sports , Phillies relief pitcher Kerkering throws the ball away (methinks he panicked) to end the Phillies season. (double methinks - he had time to throw to first to get the third out,,opted for home instead after booting the ball).
How would you like to live with that memory all off-season? Credit skipper Rob Thomson for going over to him , putting his arm around his shoulder and giving him a positive pep talk.

Yep ... no telling how it could eventually have panned out, but it surely/Shirley puts, "We win as a team; we lose as a team." to the test.

From the little I know, it looks like the Dodgers  don't have much weakness to be exploited.... a guy like Pages batting 9th?? ... gimme a break!!   I forget the team ['twern't the Dodgers] and the analyst [maybe our man Buck?], but just t'other day I heard: "He's batting ninth for a reason."

.... and from the ree-wee, ree-wee important files....

From detroitfreepress >> Hockeyforeverhq >> Facebook >> BHO:

"Al Sobotka, the longtime Detroit Red Wings Zamboni driver, is heading to trial more than three years after being fired for urinating in a drain at Little Caesars Arena. Fired at age 68 in 2022, Sobotka argues the incident was only used as an excuse to get rid of him because of his age. He claims company executives had already called him “old” weeks earlier, then replaced him with a 37-year-old after his termination. Olympia Entertainment has tried to dismiss the case, but courts — including the Michigan Supreme Court — have ruled a jury should decide.

Sobotka says he only used the drain because of a prostate issue, begged to keep his job, and even sent a personal plea to team president Christopher Ilitch, which went unanswered. He also refused a severance offer tied to a nondisclosure agreement. His lawsuit argues that his decades of loyal service should have warranted a warning or suspension rather than termination."

Fwiw, I guess it's no secret, but I'm generally partial to, "No harm, no foul."

Must admit that in some ways I envy game coverage up there in Yon Frozen North. You can get nearly everything, provided you're willing to pay for it. Here in the You-Knighted States, you can to that but mostly by streaming. I am fortunate to live in a market that has a well-established sports network (owned by the aforementioned FSG) that carries most Broons games (unless they're being carried by the Disney channels).

I mentioned earlier that FSG hadn't upfucculated NESN too badly, and I stand by that - although management DID toss away arguably the greatest home-town play-by-play team in sports history: Don Orsillo (now in San Diego) and Jerry Remy (R.I.P.), who could make even a blowout game entertaining to watch. On the other hand, they DID unleash Jack Edwards on the hockey world. Us Boston fans loved him, but it's easy to understand why nearly nobody else did.

RE the Zamboni driver: Hey, at least he didn't whiz in the hot water tank.

When we worked on the fly-in reserves the heavy-duty mechanic who would come to the community on as an as-needed [a.k.a. as paid?] basis was a sorta-regular guest for evening coffee. One time he mentioned the total lack of security at the water treatment plant and wondered aloud about how long it would be before "something" happened.   Well, wouldn't ya know it?!?!?  A couple or 3 weeks later a boy sorta vandalized the place ... tossed stuff around,  a couple of computers  into a water tank and for an exclamation point took a dump into said tank.  But, but, but, no big deal ... 3 or 4 days of "restricted / boil water" and: all's well that ends well.  yes

Without checking, which are 2 closest baseball stadiums of teams in the same league?
