So, obviously, Robert’s gets outta Dodge after a semi-apology… the usual I didn’t mean to disrespect anyone instead of admitting that pickoffs are booed with regularity at baseball games - they’re sometimes stall tactics or to mess with a batter’s concentration.

I realize he "wants to"* apologize to Toronto fans, but as a sorta fan of the Yankees, now I'm feeling disrespected ... and if not disrespected then at least left out.
But, IMNSHumbleO, the hockey/biesbol quip is kinda funny.
* then he should go right ahead. [Common enough blurb in yocal weekly paper: "I'd like to thank Dr. Sawbones and all the nurses.... etc., etc. ." Me (to no one in particular): "It's just an idea, but why not hustle your butt down to the health center and thank them??"
And furthermore and moreover, I think Shulman should apologize for explaining** to us country bumpkins how a team in first place could/would be happy with that.
** or disrespecting us. [Actually he's pretty decent
.... not quite as good as Don Chevrier, but ......... ??]
Oh, I guess when push comes to shove [or I'm not posting to BHO] I can accept D.S.'s comment* .... after all it involves thinking and talking at the same time, and I'm pretty sure I'd come up with some cringe-worthy stuff in similar circumstances.
* "I'm a man ... I can change ... if I have to ... I guess." ![]()

And it's a fair one. Might I observe: there are reasons why there are entire webistes set up around WAGS (Wives And GirlfriendS) of professional athletes. Most are hotties. I suspect it has a lot to do with the human tendency to wish better for their progeny: the guys are attracted to spreading seed, with the (distinctly less important) idea that the kids do well, and the gals are attracted to guys who can ensure the progeny eats well and is capable of spawning the next generation.
And SIMPLY because we're on to another page, and without any implied editorial comment. Note the lack of cleavage.

What?!?!? No suggestive wisp of hair? ... or pigeon-toes?? [Can't say I'm disappointed, even if she does look a bit drowsy.

... Progeny? ... spreading seed?? Etc.??? Fwiw, I'm putting my money on "horny" ... i.e. "We'll cross those other bridges if/when we come to them!!"

Louie Varland, Blue Jays relief pitcher from Minnesota, played pond hockey growing up - he’s got the slightly bow legged walk like hockey players.

You've got one helluvalotta nerve talking about crossing "those other bridges" in a banjo forum, even if it's the "not banjo related" section of said banjo forum. We don't cross bridges here. We argue about precision placement, mass, slotting, compensating, height, head-tension-relative-to, and downpressure on tailpieces. But we -do NOT discuss crossing them. ![]()

And that, campers, is why professional athletes make a lot more money than people who work in professions that are arguably of greater value to humanity.
More oddities,,, Nu Yawk on review said it was fan interference but it would have been a home run anyway. What ?? It wasn't a line drive , the ball was coming down.
The Rays are playing in a minor league ballpark & they say there aren't as many camera angles there,,, more ?? You mean they couldn't install some before the season began,,, what kind of bush league b.s. is that??

IF that's fan interference, wot's this >> https://www.sportscasting.com/news/where-are-they-now-morganna-the-kissing-bandit/ ?
The whole bit of fans being able to reach/touch a ball that's in play tells me "they" don't want to get rid of it. [Bush league?.... maybe.]
But, but, but, more importantly, for seats from the end of the dugout to the foul pole, wouldn't it make sense to have a gradual, straight line rather than goofy jut-outs halfway down the line [i.e. foul territory full width in the area of third base and then decreasing gradually in a straight line to about 4' when it gets to the pole] ?
From Humboldt, Saskatchewan to the bright lights of NHL arenas,,, got his autograph years ago.

Anze Kopitar - one of those hard-working , skilled players who kind of fly under the radar,, he might not have "the numbers" but I'd call him a candidate for the H o F.
Announcing here that this will be his last season before retiring. Much, much respect.

Completely agree with your assessment.
Re. "... nowadays nobody cares about your heritage... etc."
I assume you're talking about the upper echelons more so than out in the boonies. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/racism-sports-manitoba-indigenous-1.7635581
The ^^ report mentions taunts of "...wagon burners." On the subject of wagon burners, "... In 1975, Cote* formed the first all-Native Old-Timers hockey team in Saskatchewan. The “Wagonburners” were Saskatchewan East Division champs in 1977 and finished their season at a tournament in Florida, United States of America." [While acknowledging the diff between adults and kids, I kinda liked that (cheeky?) approach... dunno how acceptable it would be today.]
* That blurb is about Tony Cote a leader at Cote/St. Phillips [the reserve]. They're sorta in the area I was raised in, and we played them at the pee wee and bantam level. Saw the old-timers team play a few games, but never played against them.

I think I'm more looking forward to the re-oganized Russell Rams senior team starting play in the Sask East League ... first game Nov. 7th. They disbanded in the wake of the b.s. foisted on us w.r.t. covid; in fact the old league, the North Central folded after a couple more seasons. I'm assuming the players that went to other teams will find their way back. It's only a 16-game schedule, which seems deficient (?) to me, though i do understand that things aren't the way they were back in the day. One thing that sorta gives me pause is the disparity among the teams .... I see in last hear's standings, the top team lost only 1 game and the bottom team only won one. But I guess at all levels of le 'ockey that's not unusual.
Now... come playoff time, I expect my interest in the NHL to wax ... particularly if/while les 'abs are involved.
I see the NHL starts "for real" on Oct 7th .... the experts' (?) insights (?) re. "the playoff implications" of any/all games should start about .... what? ... October 23-26?? ![]()
