I get nervous driving a small crossover SUV over those bridges. Can't imagine what it's like to drive a bus or an 18 wheeler over one.

The bridges are slated for replacement. They'll start with the Sagamore, allegedly starting construction in 2028. They built the existing bridges in less than a year. These will take more than two. Given all the re-routing that will be necessary the construction will prove to be an absolute charlie foxtrot, but they need to be done.

Doing the Sagmore first makes sense in that it carries a lot more traffic than the Bourne. But of course, I live about 8 miles south of the Bourne bridge, getting to the Sagamore requires a ride along the canal that will NOT be improved, and they haven't set a start date for the Bourne yet. At my age, my bet is that I'll never get a chance to drive across the new one...

Even so, and despite Nazar's apparent skill, that's a mighty impressive of change for a kid who hasn't yet played a full season in the NHL!

Not quite sure I understand your question. "Player's salary as a proportion of league total....?" Total WHAT? Revenues? Some other metric?

There's no lack of hockey databases out there that can give some clues - at least, with active players and not players like Gretzky, long-since retired. Puckpedia.com and capwages.com are both useful. Capwages is the one I use most - you can look up a player, find their contract history and some (not all) of how their contracts are structured to develop his cap hit/AAV. You can also see what percentage of a team's cap space is taken up by an individual player (example: Connor McDavid, with a current AAV of $12.5mm and about to enter the last season of his current contract, represents 13.1% of the Oilers' cap space. Leon Draisaitl, who just resigned, makes $14mm and eats $14.7%. Evan Bouchard, the Oilers' top D guy, makes $10.5mm and eats 11%. That's three guys who, between them, make 38.9% of the total team cap. Good thing their goalies are cheap (though one can certainly look at Edmonton's recent playoff history and say that you get what you pay for).

Under the CBA, the team salary caps are set so that players get, give-or-take, 50% of combined league revenue. Now, it's not super-simple; there's some revenue sharing done to support smaller market teams (a big reason why the Coyotes were shipped to Utah).

The cap for the upcoming season is set at ballpark US $95.5 million, which means that across the league gross revenues should total roughly $3.1 billion this season. Not hard to work backwards from there.

Take a look here.

This spells out team commitment to players' salaries for the upcoming season. You'll note that some teams are currently over the cap, and others under it. In San Jose's case, they're so far under it that they haven't yet reached the league MINIMUM cap hit. In each season, you see teams well under cap, others who juggle the LTIR game in order to meet it.

Nazar will play this season on the last year of his entry-level contract and will make $950K. His new contract kicks in next year, when his AAV will be just shy of $6.6mm. His ACTUAL salary next year will be $9.1mm, but that number declines over the length of the contract. For cap purposes, AAV is what matters. So if the cap didn't rise next year - and it's likely to - his salary would be about 7% of Chicago's cap. As things stand, Chicago has one of the lower AAV totals in the league. See for yourself.

They'll make the same amount this year. Bedard will be an RFA at the end of this season; he was a year behind Nazar in the draft. One imagines that Chicago is already trying to work out an extension for him. 

Kudos to Taipei ... just now won the LLWS over Nevada.  I'd been watching games  [well. sorta watching... you know me] up until yesterday ... when I couldn't find the final games on Westman cable.   But, today I found the ABC was carrying the finals, so I watched [well sorta... etc.].

Was impressed with the players ability/talent, but the over-the-top broadcast effort at theatrics/idolize/put 'em on a pedestal makes watching it a bit of a chore ... but, what do I know?   And what's with the "almost" matching uniforms?!?!?!?
