The classic wtf, why bother, fugged’bowdit stuff of weirdness in baseball,, but I like it anyway.
The pitching coach comes out to talk to the pitcher about the strategy, the home plate umpire saunters out to the mound, tells the guys the obvious “hurry up”, gawks back & forth for a bit, then they all shuffle off (after agreeing on which bar to go to afterwards)……

(I like how the color commentator says, acting like the pitching coach saying,"I want you to get him out but don't give him anything to hit, which is really tough to do."

Only 9 ?!?!?!? Musta been a bit of a wimp!
Mention was made t'other day on my Facebook feed about the "best pitched game" https://sabr.org/journal/article/the-best-pitched-game-in-baseball-history-warren-spahn-and-juan-marichal/
From ^^ article: "Spahn threw 201 pitches, Marichal 227. Pro-rated over Spahn’s 15½ innings and Marichal’s 16 full, Spahn had been throwing on a 147-pitch nine-inning rate to Marichal’s 152."
But, but, but it's a good thing it wasn't the other way round .... at age 42, Spahn might have found 227 a bit much.
^^^^ “ While Mays rounded the bases and disappeared quickly into the night, the crowd stood and cheered both pitchers and, for that matter, themselves for sticking it out. Each spectator was given the “Croix de Candlestick,” a round orange badge for anyone surviving an extra-inning night game at The Stick. “We were riveted,” says Fimrite. “It was the best game I ever saw.” (sticking it out at Candlestick ,,, okay then)
Here’s a sign I saw in Arizona, near Casa Grande. If you know the significance you’ve gotta be a diehard bayzbal fan.

The all-knowing Google tells me it's a 799 miles (?) / 12 hours, 2 minute drive. I wonder how much taking the "scenic route" ^^ would add.
.... and now to continue with yesterday's "excitement" .... Signals and brake lites on the SurfSide were working okay all along; fuse replacement got power to the running lites .... but only the right side. Now I'm worse than before..... I only travel in daytime, but I figure one light is worse than no lights should a po-leece officer come in behind. %&^$#%$ ! However, I confidently report no progress with the utility trailer. Double %&^$#% !! And this aft will be mucho warm [by MB standards]. Triple %&^#%$ !!! ![]()

Huh? 799 miles to where from where? AZ is a long long ways from Russell.
Electrical puzzles are not my forte. I once got thrown back onto my keister trying hook up 220 on a fuse box.... is why I yam like I yam.

From where to where ?!?!?!?
I thought the "significance" (?) was from Casa Grande to Candlestick Park .... https://www.google.com/search?q=casa+grande+san+fransisco+driving+distance&rlz=1C1CHBF_enCA1116CA1116&oq=casa+grande+san+fransisco+driving+distance&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIJCAEQIRgKGKABMgcIAhAhGJIDMgcIAxAhGJIDMgcIBBAhGJIDMgcIBRAhGJIDMgcIBhAhGJIDMgcIBxAhGJID0gEKMTg3NDdqMGoxNagCCLACAfEFlP1sYsR_od7xBZT9bGLEf6He&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 [But I see mye eyesight/comprehension/arithmetic/?? is suspect ..... it's about 13 hours.]
One of us has to start paying attention. ![]()
Edit: Found a poor ground at one marker light... worked my magic and now it's
. Found what I thought was a "mistake" connection at another marker/tail light >>> thought I corrected it by making a disconnect >>> makes no diff!!! AaaRrrrGgghhh!!

Thor, the god of lightning, is not on your side….
Ok, I get yer drift,, you took the distance from CG to Frisco cuz the sign pointed “thataway”.
Actually, ball fans, that sign is where Giants owner set up a training camp/resort in the early sixties,,, he thought he had inside info that Interstate 10 was going to be built right close by… argh,, they built it 9 miles away to the east so his resort plan was a wash. Pics to follow…

Yeah. They look like designer army boots.

Originally posted by OwenOff the top, I don't know just what it should be, but there's gotta be a better way to settle/break the [All-Star Game] tie than a mini home run derby.
They got hate mail after the last tie game, so's they borrowed from hockey and had "swing-off". The announcer even mentioned the hockey "shootout".
I say put 2/two/ll men on base for the batting team & 2 outfielders for the defending team.
(Judge and Ohtani had already left to go home last night long before the 9th inning,,,, duh)

Well, well, well ..... finally a post that's sorta related to the OP.* I didn't read it particularly carefully, instead figuring that since it's from The Times Of India I could take it directly to the bank. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/nhl/news/bobby-orr-blasts-ron-maclean-over-controversial-claims-about-don-cherrys-health-and-exit-strategy-from-coachs-corner/articleshow/122540658.cms

^^^ more political slant, imho,, just like everything nowadays. McLean, the leftist foil for DC/MD for years, versus the right wingers ! Orr, Goldstein, and Cherry.
.... and furthermore ! ,, if it wasn't for McLean playing the punching bag role for Cherry's big mouth shout-downs , DC wouldn't have half the loot he does now.
